Overrated to....who? You aren't going to agree with critics on everything. Expected to is just stupid. Nearly every critic I follow, respect and generally align with loved ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD. I didn't. That doesn't mean the system is rigged.

Reviews are becoming meaningless on those review sites because people vote based on whether a film is too black or a reboot is all female or they disagree with the actor's views in the real world, or whether they feel triggered instead of whether they actually enjoyed the movie anyways. Here are examples of movies that people purposefully voted against because it was trendy:

• Rampart
• Birth of A Nation
• Cats
• Ghostbusters

If anything, Rotten Tomatoes is probably working to make their reviews meaningful again before trolls make their site completely meaningless.

That’s the problem with your logic tho. They’re overrated to you. Therefore they must be overrated and no one could possibly love them. That’s myopic as hell homie. There are plenty of movies I like that the general consensus is against. And the inverse is true as well. Movie criticism isn’t a Yelp review; it’s an academic function telling you what this person with this specific taste thought snd felt about a movie. And most of them will say “don’t just go by me. Go see it for yourself and make up your own mind” and none of them say their word is gospel

A movie with a 90% on RT may only have a 58 on Metacritic.

It's the reviewerz RT scores are based on. If they are only counting sites/people who give a certain review to skew the scores one way vs another for others then they are compromised.

RT itself isn't a review site but just a compiler to give the average score from many "critics". But even user scores can be skewed too. I trust the word of cats I know more than anything
