when royce played nastradamus to a guy that was fully on that nas narrative about his beats he had nothing to say when he actually played the music
Royce is nice for this.

Me too, dudes just don't have a groove in their bodies especially for the era if you was alive and at least a teen.I love this song
Nas woulda got shyt on if he picked this beat instead of Jay lol

rap music post like 98 has generally aged like milkBro wtf was that beat Fab was rapping over?! Did he really hear that and was like “this the one right here!” He probably hit a Harlem Shake in the booth too
But honestly I need for these podcasts to take a deep dive into the production of the late 90’s into the 2000’s and realize that a lot of people picked wack beats. Swizz was one of the guys of the moment and he gave rappers some bullshyt. Busta was really hanging on by a string before he got with Dre. Eminem gave us some so so production. Meanwhile cats like Paul and Juicy J was giving us heat that’s still being remixed and sampled todayAt the end of the day, a lot of these beats from different rappers ain’t hitting in 2025 like they did back then.
Facts this is awful
Not ever rapper stop itEvery rapper has bad beats on an album...
and GodSon has some fire beats... Book of Rhymes, Get Down, Revolutionary Warfare, Made You Look
Yep. People talk about Nas but don’t want to bring up the obvious early 2000’s Harlem Shake ass beats that nobody likes anymore:rap music post like 98 has generally aged like milk

No. He wouldn't have. Maybe on here. The Booth has trash ears for the most part.
Because people conflate beat perceptions with how he sounds on the beat. Nas never sounded good on Timbo shyt IMO. He struggled to double time rap in 1999 whereas Jay does it effortless because that's how he came into the game. Same with Neptunes beats. Jay just had a more acrobatic flow VS you knowing exactly how Nas was going to rap on those beats, for good or bad.
Jay made better pop rap songs over those types of beats so nobody complains about them.
