Maybe you are recalling wrong. Here Bro :

EDIT

It needs that Indian Vocal Sample it had, this beat is missing right now. :wow:

No im actually recalling right.

This beat was trash, what’s funny is I thought Kanye produced it since he was the featured artist. Never knew it was Timbo but now it makes sense.

The off beat Indian sample makes it even worse. And this shyt aged terribly.

I never heard this shyt get any play anywhere. Excuse Me Miss was the joint that was everywhere. I see why Timbaland disappeared in 2004, his cheesy beats wasn’t good enough. Atleast Swizz and Pharrell knew how to adapt to the changing sound.

Yeah it didn't slap like it used to for me, maybe the video I put up didnt have those Indian Vocals that can add atmosphere into a beat.

Trash though lol, Timbo is good for RnB and has only a handful of decent Rap records. He loves to overcook his drums like 5 different patterns going off. Making it difficult for an MC to deliver on it.

Nice knowledge there.

I even thought Chicago black kids invented House Music too.
Techno was invented by three black kids called “The Belleville Three” from a high school a few miles outside of the D.

nikkas in the city liked it so much they put an urban spin on it and called it Ghetto Tech around the same time. Early 80’s shyt

Don’t get me wrong Timbo is definitely talented but many of his rap beats just ain’t good. He smokes R&B beats.

Jay fans act like 'Ghetto Techno' doesnt exist.

Worst than Pac's 'Whatz your phone number'

Worst than Nas's 'Braveheart Party'

The recording is even worst. It is so bad Jay got it off of YouTube.

"Make me Ayo Technology Part 2 :gladbron:"

Sounds like something he would give to Keri Hilson or Nelly Furtado

On many of his albums the beats don't match the emceeing.
Like if Emceeing is 9 and beats 7, hiphop people will always exaggerate and say that shyt that is 7 is incredibly wack.
It's like how people call Nastradamus one of the worst albums ever, when it's like a solid 7.

And it gets even worse when you look back in time, cause a lot of shyt sounds aight when it came but wack decades later. It's like fashion.

when royce played nastradamus to a guy that was fully on that nas narrative about his beats he had nothing to say when he actually played the music

Oh I realize how that could read lol. I mean because the rappers suck. If Magoo could do it nobody else has an excuse.

Oh I agreed with you.

I just thought it was funny the way you called out the rapper for being suspect if he cant ride the beat. Which is the hundred percent truth lol.

ofc he asking this after 3 hit boy albums the recency bias is gone now. but he def had some trash beats, or more importantly, a lack of really notable fire beats. But they got tripped up cause it’s really been awhile and now in 2025 is no longer a relevant criticism

The narrative does not hold up :mjlol:

Bro wtf was that beat Fab was rapping over?! Did he really hear that and was like “this the one right here!” He probably hit a Harlem Shake in the booth too :deadrose:

But honestly I need for these podcasts to take a deep dive into the production of the late 90’s into the 2000’s and realize that a lot of people picked wack beats. Swizz was one of the guys of the moment and he gave rappers some bullshyt. Busta was really hanging on by a string before he got with Dre. Eminem gave us some so so production. Meanwhile cats like Paul and Juicy J was giving us heat that’s still being remixed and sampled today :yeshrug: At the end of the day, a lot of these beats from different rappers ain’t hitting in 2025 like they did back then.

Can't believe no one mentioned this:scust::

The problem wasn't just with Nas's beat selection it's that other rappers at the time were getting way better production. It was inexcusable when he could've called Alchemist, Hav, Premier, or anyone reputable and got fire.

The dip in quality from the production of Illmatic and It Was Written was noticable. Then you hear the beats on Lost Tapes and it's confusing as to why the songs on his albums were so inconsistent. It didn't make sense how the same guy who chose some of the best beats in history was picking average to below average beats.

Even when the beats weren't bad a lot were just mid or didn't fit him. Those cheap sounding, electronic, tin can beats were too common.

I love this song
