Nah, just paying your oppressor and being content in racism is. :usure:
yeah cause being taxed by the government is the same as modern Buffalo soldiers getting their legs blown off in Afghanistan and there is no difference between overt racism blacks endure today and in slavery:stopitslime:

Let's just go back to discussing Roots. I'm convinced some people in this thread never even seen it. Just admit that you've never seen it and you're looking forward to this remake.

I see people in here critiquing, and I wonder if they knew that it was "based" on a true story, written by Alex Haley (who also wrote The Autobiography of Malcolm X). I say based because as legend goes, Alex Haley actually stole the story, so someone else is the descendant of Kunta. The story is actually how Kunta never forgot where he came from, never forgot that he was a king and would never have that taken from him. And he made sure that it passed down for every generation so that they would know. But I guess that's not militant enough.

I'm about to break out the boxset.

and i'm convinced the people whom enjoy Roots and similar films are either sadistic cacs vicariously living out their slave master fantasy or c00ns whom suffer from Stockholm syndrome:scust: you really believe Roots was based on a true story:russ: bet you think Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Amityville Horrors were docudramas too:comeon:

hypothetically even if this story was based on actual people/events it's obvious white supremacist Hollywood took liberties to portray black people more pathetically docile and weak than they actually were to push an agenda.

You know Alex Haley is black? I say "based" because it is supposedly the true story of his lineage. Of course there will be no actual documented proof of whatever he found, but if he truly did the research, then oral history would be as accurate as anything else. Of course some things are fictionized and some thing were stolen but if his held to it to be true, traced the steps, then it is as true as any other docudrama.

Sooooooo, you never actually watched Roots. There isn't an event from Kunta or his lineage that represented Stockholm Syndrome. The only reason Kunta actually stayed, even after they chopped off his foot was because Belle enforced that he had a family to protect. Kizzy and Chicken George both threatened to kill Massa Moore. There was an attempted seige on the ship in the 2nd part. The prospective slaves killed a few then got hit with the cannon. Tom wasn't obidient either. A section of his story was white people being scared of the Nat Turner revolt. And they also stated how even though they had freedom, it brought on bigger problems - no lodging, food, survival. There was never any portrayal of sympathetic white characters aside from Ol' George Johnson. Mike Brady was the closest of the massas, until he shipped off Kizzy.

no shyt i thought breh was a Scottish cac:ohhh:nah even if it was true by the time the final script was finished it was more a work of fiction than anything and and most likely collaborative effort by Haley and cac writers

i've seen enough of Roots to understand it was sick borderline Amerikkkan slavery minstrel which to mocked the pain of our ancestors, emasculated the blackman and whom's ultimate message if blacks forgive and keep turning the other cheek//enduring abuse from devils eventually one day it'll all pay off:camby:

as far as Stockholm syndrome goes i was referring to black fan's of Roots and similar insulting slavery movies but the shucking for cacs by Kunta(as an adult) and almost every black character is so cringe worthy bad it almost seems like a parody..plus anyone whom content/accepted their enslavement slavery suffers from Stockholm Syndrome.:aicmon:that brief failed slave rebellion on that ship was the one respectable black momment in the film and hardly compensates for hours of blackfolk cowering as they are abused and degraded by cacs:stopitslime:you mean bedwench Kizzy and the same Chicken George whom soft spot for massah /Stockolm syndrome led him to spare the life of the cac whom raped his momma.:comeon:so the cacs whom gave free to the slaves were portrayed as heros:childplease:
