Deadline has confirmed that up-and-coming British actor Malachi Kirby has been cast as Kunta Kinte in A+E Networks’ remake of Roots. The event TV series will follow the iconic character as he is captured from his homeland Gambia and sold into slavery in America, and his descendants struggle to survive over the next century.

Still think re-making this is not necessary.

Another Brit cast in one of our iconic roles....:francis:

Usually I'm on the "we are all black" thing...but this *is* starting to become more than coincidence.

I feel that AA's have a specific stigma, due most to the American media, and that they are starting to phase us out completely.

Bosman and Jordan are our last hopes.

Thats what white people want. We aint slaves no more. fukk I wanna keep seeing cacs make money off it over and over.

IMO, black people need to see slavery in all of it's brutality. Too many nikkas wanna forget that shyt but I never will. I use that shyt as a constant reminder to let me know who my enemy is.

Especially after reading an article that there's still black people enslaved in 2015 in America under a system called peonage.

Why not make a movie about the old Ghana or Mali empires? Perchance a biopic for Mansa Musa?

No? No audience for that sort of thing? Yeah, I thought not. Let just have another slavery flick, because slavery and civil rights is the only worthwhile history blacks have ever had, apparently.

Tell blacks to get over/move on from/forget slavery and discrimination while continually making black centered films that focus exclusively on slavery and discrimination. Yeah, that makes sense.

I'd like to see something like that. I'm getting Apacolypto vibes. Lets get someone to write it, and put up a go fund me.I'd put up $100.

You know what sad is that we all know that many white people will be like :what: "I'm tired of seeing the slavery movies, they need to get over it" and yet we still have black people be like :what: "not another slavery movies".

How come I've never seen anybody complain about the holocaust movies?. Jews never said, "I'm tired of seeing the holocaust movies". They won't forget it and won't move on, they liked to keep reminding you guys.
