I get it, but I don't do a sliding scale on greatness vs flamboyance. I love Broner's promo-cutting skills and in-ring antics as much as I enjoy Floyd's. And that goes for athletes of any race. Conor McGregor is great for MMA and so were the Diaz brothers and Chael Sonnen.

This makes no sense whatsoever & is devoid of real logic. Any pro athlete can be a loud mouth, over the top braggart just for the sake of promotion. However, bravado & "flamboyance" only matters & is effective IF the athlete is able to back up their boasting & constant over the top rhetoric with winning.

How is it devoid of logic?

First, I was talking strictly from an entertainment standpoint. I enjoy any shyt talking, showboating, and antics I can get in sports. I'll always root for athletes that make sports fun, whether they're the greatest or not.

Chael Sonnen isn't a great UFC fighter and his mic skills might be the most entertaining in the history of combat sports. The Coli loves Marshall Henderson, and he was a borderline D1 basketball player that has to play overseas now. But he provided some of the best troll sports moments in recent history.

Nick Young celebrating a 3 he missed is as entertaining as Steph Curry turning around and knowing it went in.

Second, the dividing line between good and great professional athletes is thin. They're all at the top 1% of their respective sports, so I'm not out here talking about bums.

Third, it takes a lot to be an openly confident, loud mouthed, showboating athlete. The media will kill you the first chance it gets, and very few people appreciate the fun you bring to the sport. So not just any pro athlete can do it. You're risking a lot when you go for it.

after looking at this, she's done! many fighters get they ass whipped, have bruises, cuts and still make it to the post fight conference sometimes with glasses on. she got the fuk outta the ocatgon and said fuk the post conference point is, she's lost her confidence and can't even hold her head high in public after taking a "L". you got a busted lip and got a fukking blanket covering your face like you one of micheal jackson kids, running from cameras.

All the athletes you've mentioned like Chael Sonnen, Marshall Henderson & Nick Young may be entertaining & somewhat amusing, but the majority of real sports fans & sports media analysts/pundits don't take these or similar types of sports personalities seriously because they're viewed for the most part as simply sideshow spectacles who've made a name for themselves based more on comedic or brash "antics" than consistent winning or championship caliber performances in their actual sport (especially when compared to their more successful, more accomplished peers). This bolsters & proves my original premise that any athlete can be pretentious, boisterous or witty, but very few can actually do these things while winning consistently also.

There are still different levels of talent in professional sports which separate, categorize & spotlight the superstar players or competitors vs average & sub-par ones. For example, Lebron James is one of the greatest NBA players due to his past/present performances & accolades while a player like Lance Stephenson is coming off the bench now because he couldn't compete sufficiently enough talent wise to be a full time starter.
