Except as I said, Punk and Danielson have made their careers by pulling shyt from what they did on the indies. Punk in particular pretty much recycled
everything he did from 2003-2006. Experience isn't a bad thing, at all. Danielson though essentially the same in the ring has done more character stuff as he was a heelish/tweener character at his peak on the indies.
Rollins and Ambrose both come off as more competent than Reigns because.....experience. They already have an idea of what works for them, whereas Roman is still at that stage of throwing shyt at the wall and seeing what sticks.
Look at Rollins last night. He pulled out a Phoenix Splash at an ideal time in that match to blow the shyt out of the water. Why? He's been using that move in special occasions for almost a decade.
There is absolutely zero negative to working the indies before making the WWE.
And the "different ball game" thing isn't even true anymore when you have 1) Former indy guys at the top of the WWE card, and 2) traditional WWE guys like Cena busting out fukking Michinoku Drivers to keep up with them
And not the ring work, mic work, too. On the indies there's no one writing fukking scripts for you. You're in a piss stained hall way of some tiny building in front of a dude with a handheld camera and you have to be compelling with whatever you come up with on your own. And indy crowds will absolutely debacle an in-ring promo and make you look like an idiot if you don't learn how to control a live audience. Even DBry who no one is in a rush to call charismatic absolutely nails his promos most of the time and can get a crowd to react how he wants to.
It's just experience. And usually experience in hostile situations.
Why do these dudes who don't watch the indies think its some circlejerk where the fans love and praise everything blindly. Those same people shytting on WWE shows every once in a while are burying dudes every weekend on the circuit.
