slavery really?

Do you actually think they're above trying to pull that shyt off? Let me break it down for you. If they had their way.. there would be NO MORE minorities in this country. There would only be Christianity. Women would cook, clean and fukk. That's it. This would be the land of the wealthy, and if you're not white and rich, you'll be working for the ones that are.

These people are literally saying this shyt out loud, and some people refuse to believe them. shyt is so off the wall, that people think they're trolling for political purposes. But nah.. this is how they are. Now here we are, having to fight for our women to be able to have control of their own bodies.

Question. :jbhmm: Say Roe vs. Wade is overturned and states can officially band abortion. We know what republicans will do. Overtime when Democrats get power in a given state that outlawed it, do you think they'll overturn it or just go with the flow?

Im not 100% sure how it would work, but all the news outlets are saying that it'll be a state by state type of thing. I doubt blue states would outlaw it. Then there's states like Oklahoma that just today pushed forward a 6 week bill, and they're just waiting for the overturning of R v W to make it illegal altogether in their state.

the ether
"Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said Tuesday that if a report suggesting that the U.S. Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade is accurate, she was misled in her conversations with two justices who had told her that the landmark 1973 abortion ruling was settled law."

“If this leaked draft opinion is the final decision and this reporting is accurate, it would be completely inconsistent with what Justice Gorsuch and Justice Kavanaugh said in their hearings and in our meetings in my office,” Collins said in a statement. “Obviously, we won’t know each justice’s decision and reasoning until the Supreme Court officially announces its opinion in this case.”

Collins and Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, pro-choice GOP moderates, were among the key votes during the Senate confirmation hearings for Gorsuch and Kavanaugh. In explaining her votes to confirm them, Collins said that both judges had assured her at the time that they believed Roe v. Wade was “settled law.”

Speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, Murkowski said it was “shocking” that such an opinion would be leaked, and that if it holds, it would undermine the confidence she has in the court. (Unlike Collins, Murkowski voted against Kavanaugh’s advancement; both supported Gorsuch.)

"Roe is still the law of the land. We don't know the direction that this decision may ultimately take,” Murkowski said. “But if, if it goes in the direction that this leaked copy has indicated, I would just tell you that it rocks my confidence in the court right now."

Imagine legitimately claiming you thought Gorsuch and Kavanaugh were going to defend abortion rights. :mjlol:

Combining these two (well especially Collins) with Manchin and Sinema, and I have to wonder whether Senate moderates are among the most dishonest people in public office.

Interesting and plausible theory suggesting one of the conservative law clerks leaked the opinion in order to attempt to firm up the justices in the majority and keep Roberts from being able to convince one of the five to join him on a more moderate compromise instead.

Lowkey I think a decent number of dems feel the same way Repubs feel, almost a majority of dems , politics seem more bipartisan than the media let’s on
It’s not low key, they are, including the President of the United States.

Neither would happen in a million years, but if they did it would be fukking civil war. I'm not even exaggerating, we would be somewhere between "small spontaneous uprisings here and there that have to be continually stomped out for a while" and "states literally voting to secede from the union".

Such a happy medium that is :wow::blessed::skip:

One of the problems is that these legal interpretations are disjointed. In a vacuum one could argue that it should be left up to the states and be reasonable in their logic..while also not wanting politicians to veer too far down that road. So now, you have justices in compromised positions that are arguing the merits of a single case with the knowledge of the political ramifications that ruling would have despite it not being necessarily the intent of the ruling :unimpressed:all the justices are smart enough to understand what's going to come from this but just enough of them either want what's coming or are stubborn enough to say well I dont like what's next but I have to rule on this case and this case alone. :unimpressed:

It's all garbage

Democrats rested on their laurels and/or played the dangerous game of keeping it uncodified to rally votes when they were desperate. Now they gotta take the L and counter.

A firebrand will come out of nowhere on a humanistic liberty based campaign and take back the White House in 2028 or 2032

Biden has to expand the courts or force federal protections for Abortion. He'll never get re-elected (chances aren't great as is) if Abortion is made illegal.

if kamala has any 2024 aspirations, this is the time to seize that momentum :lupe: she won't get a better chance at visibility, and to cultivate a middle class base

dems should get dirty on this. attack the Roberts court for being an illegitimate, politicized disgrace. start calling the republicans the party of rapists' rights :scusthov:

I've been saying this for years. Not sure why it's such a taboo topic when it's the only sensible solution to the problems in our country. :yeshrug:
