I'm surprised he didn't write it. I always figured he had some type of partnership over the Rocky property & characters since he created the whole thing. Which is the reason I was hoping Hollywood hadn't done a remake yet.

denzel would have never displayed the performance micheal b did I in chronicle and is set to in FF. Never saw it but I am guessing he was equally as bad in awkward moment as well. To his credit better to shyt the bed in paper thin side roles where you are a white man's safe negro than the lead in critically acclaimed flicks. If it wasn't for fruitvale I would be hard pressed to see what potential ppl are frothing at the mouth over.

I don't dispute he's better than Tyler just off fruitvale alone but your general sentiment is a tad misguided. I use to be of that thought but with age and time I see different its not Tyler's fault there aren't a pleotera of blacks on the come up/in existence just because he's made it he shouldn't automatically be charged with being another spike lee or 90s singleton if he isnt capable. Its like expecting lil Wayne to be political just to carry the torch yesterday's rappers did. If it's not in his repertoire it's not in his repertoire. We just need more black director/writers to break through. From a hustle standpoint what Perry has managed to do is quite surprising
