Growing up in the 90's I related more to the Emersons than the Huxtables. Cosby Show was a mirage while ROC was going through real stuff telling real stories and you actually felt like you knew the characters because in the hood those characters where everywhere.

As someone who grew up watching Fox in the 90s, this isn't true. There were shows like Martin, roc, living single, in living color and ny undercover and then there were shows like Melrose place, x files, Beverly Hills 91210, party of five, and etc. They had shows for everybody. By the end of the 90s, they were a powerhouse.
