This joint aint bad but coming off of dark horse I think everyones expectations was high as fukk.
I think knxwledge or madlib could have pulled off a full pimp/blaxploitation record for him better than muggs tho.
Those two have that sound thats better suited for roc imo.

i still hate the electric guitars but i've played this way more than i expected after that initial first listen.
by comparison, i've prolly played it as much in its first week as i did Behold A Dark Horse in its first week.

Roxy does not fit on these mugg beats at all. It soinds to me like he was never able to get into a groove on any track. I don't like how the album is compiled either, as I think there are some disparate pieces that make it look like a disjointed project.
Roc is a rapid fire lyricist with extremely tight, compound lyrics and bars. He does not waste not one line. Nor does he change his cadence mmuch. All of it is extremely dense, which means it's harder for him to improvise on beats like this.
I prefer RR2 and Dark horse to this project. I think is a decent album, maybe even good, but because Roxy has had a lot of recent success with music that display the pennacle of his artistry, this album just doesn't cut it in terms of similar qualityi; its not fair to compare it to RR, RR2 and Dark horse, but you have to since all of these projects have been released in the same window.
