Been around since the 80s come on man that's PREME :mjtf: Uncle AL put in mad work and I have no problems with abyone putting him in their top 5 or 10s.

Yeah Premo's been in the game since forever, but I can count on my fingers the number of beats he's made this millennium that I thought were really top tier. His beats, as godly as they often are, were never exactly unpredictable, and the formula got stale. Really not trying to hate on the man, I have nothing but respect for the classic material, but these are my feelings, it is what it is.

u mad son?

Als in my top 5 producers hands down

for the last 6/7 years i been saying he floating there abouts but his output since 2010 onwards has confirmed it for me.

Mans are bringing up Primo and im sorry but that dude has been releasing mid tier boom bap beats for decades now.

If you heard that Primo was producing a whole project for anyone at this stage its just like .... hmmm, id rather alc do it. His album with MC Eiht was super underwhelming. His beat for that new Nas joint was mid too.

Blaqprint is one of my favorite post Ownerz era collection of Preem beats. Low key a lot of cars were hating on him during The Ownerz too. That album didn’t get the live it deserved until later IMO. His best style became a little more minimalist on that album compared to Moment of Truth. I love that album though.

The last Gang Starr album was fantastic too

In my top 5 as well but Alch has been spreading himself a bit too thin imo, project is far from his best work:jbhmm:. Output has been heavy but with that has increased the mid factor on some of his beats, cats have to pick the beats though.

I don’t see a big comparison between these two. Not with activity. There’s not another producer that’s released more music with vocals on it in hip hop than Alc. Madlib is close if you count best tapes. But as far as projects with rappers on them, Al is right around 45 projects from 1st Infantry to now if you don’t include beat tapes or all the loosies he’s dropped and placements he’s had.

No one is really close to that kind of output besides Madlib. I know people know that Al has released a ton of collab and compilation projects but I don’t know how many people realize that he’s almost done 50 of them.
With no end in sight
