you accused me of having "positions that are antithetical to everything hip-hop" and presumably you take positions that are opposite to mines
so i interpreted that as you trying to claim that your liberal views are more hip hop
but if thats not what you are saying then i take it back
well speaking of antithetical, hip hop and afrika bambatta, this statement right here is antithetical to hip hop
hip hop isnt music, hip hop is a culture, music is simply one element of hip hop culture
the only people that say hip hop is just music are people that are ignorant or people that are trying to commoditize hip hop culture to make it easier to exploit
well again this has to do with your definition of hip hop, if you think hip hop is just music, then most definitely i am not "hip hop", not only am i not "hip hop" but i
on a lot of so called "hip hop" music
im hip hop according to the KRS/africa bambatta definition
“Hiphop is a term that describes our independent collective consciousness. Ever growing, it is commonly expressed through such elements as Breakin, Emceein, Graffiti Art, Deejayin, Beatboxin, Street Fashion, Street Language, Street Knowledge and Street Entrepreneurialism.
KRS
well first of all, i would like to congratulate you on being able to "rap pretty well", im happy for you
but unfortunately being able to "rap pretty well" doesnt mean anything in terms of hip hop
rap is something you do, hip hop is something you are
i think you are missing the point, the point is that if you are a professor at Cambridge and MIT you can still be hip hop if you are part of the collective consciousness regardless if you can "rap very well"
because there is nothing special about the music element of hip hop, its simply one of the elements
i posted the vids in the thread discussing nikka in case you missed it
