Crystal Dynamic and Microsoft Again Clarifies "Rise of the Tomb Raider" Xbox One Exclusivity Deal: "It's Timed Exclusive"
Yesterday a major controversy erupted on internet when Xbox Australia via Facebook announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider is NOT TIMED exclusive but "FULL TIME EXCLUSIVE" on Xbox. This posting came as a massive surprise to PlayStation community because at the time of Rise of the Tomb Raider announcement Square Enix termed their deal with Microsoft for the game as "Timed Exclusive".
Both Microsoft and Crystal Dynamics has issued a clarification on Xbox Australia's Post on Facebook. The publisher/developer duo has once again confirmed that the next installment in Tomb Raider video game franchise, Rise of the Tomb Raider is indeed a timed exclusive for Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Microsoft said:
"We apologize for any confusion resulting from an incorrect post shared on our Australian Facebook page in January. As we revealed at gamescom 2014, ‘Rise of the Tomb Raider’ will be available in Holiday 2015, exclusively on Xbox. We have no additional details to share at this time."
Additionally, Crystal Dynamics via Official Tomb Raider forums stated:
"For clarification, as we've previously announced Rise of the Tomb Raider will be a timed exclusive."
OP
Rise of the Tomb Raider now an Xbox exclusive
Xbox Australia posting a comment on Facebook indicating that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be exclusive to Xbox One; no longer a “timed exclusive.” “Update: We can’t update the image but Forza 6 should be exclusive added here as Xbox One exclusive,” read the comment. “And for those wondering; Rise of Tomb Raider will be Xbox exclusive. Not timed exclusive but exclusive.”
Expect to hear more about Rise of the Tomb Raider and its status at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June.
