If we go by what Alan Elliot said, "she loved film", then why did she block it from coming out?
I don't know, as much as I would love to see the concert film, I believe in respecting somebody's wishes and what they wanted.
The article says she sued to stop it from being showed a public event 2 times; once at the Telluride Film Festival in 2015 & then at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival

My grandma, who was a Detroit church lady and legendary Hater, used to shyt on Aretha's father so much, talk about how she didn't trust people who went to his church etc lmao. Yet despite Aretha's "flaws" (children out of wedlock) she never had a bad thing to say about her and loved her music.

Saturday chores....my mom would always play Aretha records, Clark Sisters, Luther, etc. Thinking back on those days made me realize we're seeing a generational shift in black culture. The music that the Greatest Generation, Silent Generation, and Baby Boomers grew up used to be passed on. But just like jazz died because future generations didn't appreciate or consume it young, it seems like the same is gonna happen to Motown and all the r&b that was passed on to my generation (I'm 31). Little kids today aren't living in homes where Aretha or MJ records are being played. Their parents probably playing Pac or TLC records. So the things that we considered Black Culture...like having Aretha's Amazing Grace record, or your mom jamming out to her Luther records, or Earth Wind & Fire....those days are probably over for these new kids...

This is a blend I created as a hip hop tribute to the Queen Of Soul, Aretha Franklin (R.I.P.). Producer Ayatollah originally sampled Aretha Franklin's "One Step Ahead" to create the beat for Mos Def's "Ms Fat Booty". For Aretha's verses, I blended it over Ayatollah's drums so it hits harder. For Mos Def's 1st verse, I deconstructed the Aretha sample, and rebuilt Ayatollah's beat adding some changes of my own. Mos' 2nd verse is from the retail version.

There’s only 6 pages dedicated to the best female singer I’ve personally ever heard?

Let’s push it to 7.

Anyone else have a moment when they were home sick from school and Blues Brothers came on and Aretha looked fukkable during her cameo?

I'm excited to announce that I've partnered with the world's leading sample I.D. website, WhoSampled.com to bring you my Hip Hop Tribute To Aretha Franklin. Many know her as the 'Queen Of Soul', but may not realize that she could also be considered the Queen of Hip Hop Samples, with her music being used in hundreds of songs. This is not meant to be a compilation of her greatest hits....Instead, I've compiled some of my favorite hip hop tracks that sampled her music, while incorporating Aretha's original work, as well as my own custom blends, flips, & edits.
