Man, I can't believe it.
I knew Aretha had been sick for some time now but I didn't know it was pancreatic cancer.
That hits home because my grandma (my rock, my all, my everything; she had pancreatic cancer)
My childhood years I grew up hearing Aretha Franklin being played by mom while she cooked, cleaned and relaxed. My mom loves and adores Aretha Franklin.
My dad always use to play Spanish Harlem; that's 1 of his favorite songs. I remember him playing that song over and over and over and over gain.
He was fortunate enough to see Aretha Franklin way back in 71'.
When I went out to eat yesterday for lunch, the spot I was at played 2 Aretha songs back to back, I Say A Little Prayer For You and Spanish Harlem
Hearing them songs played back to back after hearing the news that our Queen of Soul is no longer with us, fukked me up. I couldn't even finish my lunch.
Again, R.I.P. Aretha Franklin, The Queen of Soul. Always and Forever!
