CBS stopped airing original stuff in 99/2000 and then they just started showing a Nick Jr lineup but then they switched to news soon after

ABC stopped mid 2000s and just started showing Disney Channel programming and then they switched to news completely soon after
I already know that ABC & CBS stopped airing original stuff in the 2000's. I wanna know when did they stop airing children's programming PERIOD on Saturday mornings?

I can only speak for my region breh because eventually they gave the affiliates the rights to air whatever they wanted on saturday mornings so in the DC metro area, that shyt stopped early 2000s for me. It was CBS early show and ABC whatever the fukk news on and then infomercials and a couple local shyt on by the time I was a junior in high school. Fox and CW were the only cartoon games in town on network tv

:wow:Those 90s cartoons were my childhood...the 90s Spider-Man, 90s X-Men, 90s Batman/Batman Beyond, 90s Superman, Men In Black, Jackie Chan....:mjcry: I even used to wake up on Sundays and catch DBZ with the shytty dub voices on WB before Toonami got it and it popped off like that. Me and my brother used to rush home to watch the weekday jawns after school too...Bonkers, Tale Spin, Chip N Dale, Darkwing Duck :wow: so glad I grew up in the 90s. No wonder these new kids bad as fukk.

I'm hip. I was like :ohhh: when I first seen the shyt.
Used to wake up every Saturday for that shyt and talk to my friends about it and some of them had no idea what I was talking about. It was like some secret handshake shyt

Yeah it had no commercials, no toys. They just put that piff out there on the low...

My fukkin parents canceled cable in '94 thinking it would get us to watch LESS TV. All it did was made my TV watching game more fierce. If anything half way decent was on I was gonna find it...

Then they added incredible hulk to the mix. That Iron Man theme song for the 2nd season of the show still rocks

when I was a kid it was exciting like.. maybe when a new movie you really been waiting for - except it was every single week.

That's the best way to sum it up... that's exactly what "saturday morning cartoons" were like.
A shame, kids now will not get to grow up with that.

There's no incentive for major networks to have Saturday morning cartoons anymore when they have competition from cable/Netflix/Hulu/video games, plus they're legally required to air at least 3 hours of E/I programming a week, so why air that AND cartoons?

Some of the E/I stuff is pretty good tho. I fukks with the Xploration Station on FOX.

From 6:30 to 12 was Cartoons and then Wrestling from 12 to 1....

Then if there was no dopness on Channel 9 or Channel 11 in terms of afternoon movies, it was outside you go to play. Unless it was too cold, then you stayed in and watched whatever movies was on. Terminator...American Ninja....Kickboxer....Bloodsport...Indiana Jones...Big Trouble in Little China...Predator

And I don't even want to talk about those Saturday afternoon basketball ball games the NBA on NBC

Then Stark Trek TNG came on in the evening

fukk brehs....what the fukk happend???? :wow:

So the last network to air Saturday morning cartoons - the CW - has given up the Sat AM cartoon ghost. It's over Brehs. This seriously makes me misty. I grew up on them sh;ts. I am 39 so I don't know what the cartoon game has been like for the past couple decades + but when I was a kid it was exciting like.. maybe when a new movie you really been waiting for - except it was every single week.
Different times. Kids are on play dates and shyt on Saturday mornings. They watch cartoons all day everyday except Saturday anyway now. They'd never be able to appreciate what it meant to only be able to watch the good cartoons on Saturday mornings and between 3-6 Monday thru Friday.
