Black Chicago is losing population so fast, the southside of Chicago is gonna look very different by even 2030. By 2050, we are gonna be telling our grandkids about the infamous O Block, when the southside was majority Black. It's gonna be very diverse in 27 years.

"Chicago has experienced a decline in black population since a peak in or around the 1980 census. Since a peak measured in 1980, Chicago’s Black population has declined steadily from 1,187,905 in 1980 to 797,253 in 2017, a decrease of 390,652 or 32.9%."
Whose replacing them up there? And who r those houses/Apartments being sold to? Usually from what I seen it's usually mexicans if it's natural Black migration out.

If gentrification it's usually CaCs

Considering it's on the National Register of Historic Places, I have my doubts it is being demolished with a timeline that short.

I'd assumed it was Section 8 or HUD Project-Based housing, but apparently it's just low-income housing.

Are there any verifiable sources?

They tearing that place down. Its interrupting the vibe for the Obama center.

Yep, it was the same thing when they tore down CHA projects. My parents been in CC Hills since 92’. It’s not uncommon to hear gunfire over there now, was such a nice lil suburb when I was a shorty

You don't need education to value your home breh. I feel bad for the good poors there but I haven't suspicion there's not many

Yeah you do. A lot can't see past today. If you can't see past yourself, you'll never understand the reasons to take care of your immediate surroundings. You need education to think that way.

Whites, Hispanics and Asians numbers all went up. Black people the only group that decreased.

Whites are moving further into the West and Southsides due to the North being expensive or just less supply of the homes they want. You can get a beautiful brownstone for a great price if you are open to living outside of the "hot and hip" areas.

Hispanics have been moving further into the southside in areas like Englewood while the Black residents are leaving in droves. They got communities on the West side as well.

Asians have been moving further into the Bronzeville area that is a historically southside Black neighborhood.

Once Black people leave the city, it's gonna be damn near impossible to get back in and I'm not even talking about housing prices. I'm talking politically, the lower the Black population gets - the more ground other races gain. Forget about seeing a Black mayor ever again if the population keeps dropping.
