Al Davis died in 2011 and Madden died in 2021

The game after Al died the Raiders beat the favoured Texans in a down to the wire game.

Now the Raiders go to Indy and with Wentz out, they have a chance to win for Madden.

I remember when the guys on my football team found out John Madden let his team sit on their helmets....we all did it at the sametime.one practice and COACH was just an we had to run 40yr sprints the whole hour and a half practice

The first Madden game that my folks purchased for me. Use to play this, Streets of Rage, Sonic, Holyfield Boxing, and Bulls vs Lakers/Bulls vs Blazers for hours until the system got Stove hot .

It’s crazy how each generation remember him as a coach, color commentator, and gaming Icon.

RIP to this LEGEND. I remember making a floppy disk copy of the FIRST John Madden Football for the COMMODORE 64 for my boy. Madden wanst backed by the NFL yet. By the time I came back to his house days later, he and my boy (Pop Watson’s dad) had created the ENTIRE NFL AND COLLEGE FOOTBALL ROSTERS for the game from scratch .

I couldnt beleive it. Busy arguing “man….I think we made Herschel too strong!” and shyt.

Man….tons of memories around this man.

Rest in Peace Mr. Madden and thank you for playing a part in me loving this game.

Loved John Madden, man…. I remember him saying he measured how fast his players ran in rainy weather by who had the most mud on the back of their jerseys during sprints on one of his game broadcasts with Summerall. Straight up old school! Sad that a lot of youngsters will only know him for the video game.
