Rip to the goat. Developed my love for football through his game. When I truly think about it idk if there was a more influential person (non-family) for my youth than John. I still haven't watched the doc, I think I will tonight.

RIP to an absolute legend

Was sad when he retired from SNF in 09, legit thought he had 5 more years left in him. Him and Sumerrall were GOAT level, but he was great with Al Michaels too

I remember he was calling a Falcons game and some guy was talking about how with the DVD package that Vick wasn't pushing the ball downfield, and resorted to scrambling a lot, suggesting he wasn't a good QB. Madden politely shut him down by suggesting that with all the success they were having it was likely the offense was designed that way. And the guy shouldn't have been embarrassed. He wasn't pwned by just anyone. He was just shown up by a guy that had rivals like Chuck Noll and Don Shula and had the best winning percentage in football when he retired. RIP to a legend. The world could use more "simple" people like him. Raider Nation.
