if a dude is his boys will simply tell him to "man up." but if you suffer from depression it aint that simple

Scarface is one of the few high profile rappers who's open about his depression. pretty sure DMX struggles with it, it's just never been diagnosed.

some people adapt extroverted, overly confident personalities to cope with the depression. so don't be surprised if that rapper who's always on his haters and bragging about how he's the shyt is really on the inside and ends up offing himself

used to think suicide was selfish til I really studied mental health and dealt with a person who was suffering from depression.

shyt is an unbearable type of pain that rational thinking people can't fathom. these people don't actually want to off themselves, but for someone dealing with severe depression and a chemical imbalance, it often seems like the only release. has little to do with them bytching and moaning about petty shyt. it's literally a disease that they can't control. pills and therapy can cover it but it doesn't make it completely go away. it's similar to bleach. it covers the stain but it doesn't really clean it.

mental health is one of those issues that desperately needs to be addressed in the black community, because it seems like most of us have a real misunderstanding of it and aren't very empathetic to the people who suffer from it.

depressed/suicidal people normally do that. it's less about attention whoring and more about the fact that they don't really wanna die and they want someone to stop them or offer them another solution to the pain

yep most folks that off themselves throw out signs for help in someway beforehand. For some folks you really have to pay attention to catch it
