That was a joke. This was real

Don't get it twisted I did like the movie but it shouldn't of been called "THE LAST" Samurai, that's disrespectful to Japanese culture to me. A better title would of been "Spirit of the Samurai" as Tom learned about the culture. But that ending with all those Japanese Samurai dying and Tom surviving just wasn't the right message to me.

I hate this argument. Cruise wasn't the Last Samurai. Samurai is the plural form of samurai, and the title reflected the group.

"The Counselor" flopped and this will Flop. Hopefully this puts "Prometheus 2" on the fast track. Ridley needs to just stay in Sci-Fi. He's normally good with Historical Epics (Gladitor, Kingdom in Heaven) but I just can't take anymore whitewashing Egypt movies seriously. It's a great cast but wrong for a movie with this subject.
He's making The Martian next

I'm still upset Will SMith gave up on his "Last Pharoah" project that he was trying to produce with his production company "Overbrook". I guess he couldn't get the financing for a "Black" lead Egypt film. That's sad that the Biggest Movie Star in the World can't even get a Black Lead Egypt film made.

Someone on thecoli with hollywood connects should try an get in Will's ear about starting kickstarter/gofuneme for that movie. Let Black people worldwide support and see whos really down for change:mjpls:

The thing is Will wanted the "The Last Pharaoh" to be a BLOCKBUSTER so we are talking huge budget like 150-200 Million. His production company "Overbrook" can't foot that big of a bill, they need other companies to help. I would love Will to get back on the project before he gets to old. He's got "Bad Boys III" coming up and he turned down "Independence Day 2". Will is also in good shape to play the pharaoh. I just want a Black Lead Egypt film. Outside of "The Prince of Egypt" which is animation and the Michael Jackson "Remember the Time" video we just can't get an accurate protrayl of Egypt.

That's actually an amazing idea :ohhh:

If people donated to Spike Lee and Veronica Mars, why not? You wouldn't even have to be that concerned with a profit because the money was donations and not some investor. Do that breh :ohhh:

Keep in mind, a lot of that budget is Will's salary :pachaha: 300....which was a huge hit was made for $65 million and the Spartactus show was incredibly popular despite being shot on a shoestring budget. Season One of Game of Thrones had a $60 million budget. You could easily do a GOAT level Egyptian movie/show without blockbuster money. That's an excuse breh :mjpls:

I was saying it's only going to be hypocritical if you find out the movie is GOOD. I am willing to bet virtually EVERYBODY liked some film or period piece at one point and overlooked the racial demographics of it.

whether the film is good or not doesn't matter, I wouldn't support a restaurant that was racist but served some bomb ass food so why do the same for a movie.

Hypocrisy isn't correct actions that contrast from past ones, but a dissonance between two current beliefs and actions. A lot of people use that word wrong in my opinion

Why not just come out and say " I chose to cast the main characters as white because I didn't believe America would turn out to see a movie that had black and brown people as the starring cast without white actors. Especially a movie that is based on the bible and takes place in ancient Egypt." If he would have said something to that effect, he would have sparked alot of controversy and possibly created some serious dialogue. But unfortunately that isn't going to happen.

But it's mighty funny how they love to tout Egypt as "multicultural" with authority figures being white, but they never do the same thing for Rome :sas2:
Rome was by all definition more "multicultural" than Egypt.:notserious:

What makes Scott’s explanation especially unsatisfying is that it comes right after he talks about how important it was to portray Moses and Ramses as “real” people. He describes Moses as someone who “has to be played definitively as a very real person,” and emphasizes that Exodus is “not a fantasy” but “a real thing.” Apparently, his concern with keeping things “real” didn’t extend to racially appropriate casting.

Do people still believe Moses really parted the red sea with a magic staff to save the Jews?

I know right....Spartacus atleast tried to show how diverse the Roman Empire was by casting black and middle eastern people (Barca, his faggit lover, Neveah, Black bald teacher guy :heh:, bald teacher guy's wife that Gannicus smashed, Mira...I think she's half Korean, she bad as fukk too :noah:). Anyway. Rome conquered half the ancient world and gave citizenship to their colonies afterward, so that logic they use toward Egypt applies more to the Roman Empire, if anything. Eventhough they tried to be diverse with Spartacus, you notice all the wealthy noble landowners from Rome were lily white, unlike the slaves, eventhough history tells us otherwise :sas2: Greece was likely multi-cultural too. They looked more like Taylor Lautner. Olive skin. Dark hair. Mediterranean look. Yet they have Gerald Butler and Colin Farrell (two Scottish mofawgas) playing them, eventhough the Greeks ROUTINELY painted themselves darker than their pale demon neighbors to the North. That argument only seems to get used when involves Egypt and Nubia though :sas2:
