Of course the ATL
Not having Terry Fontenot at the press conference and the press release where he’s only listed as having “input” in this process just really shows how backwards this whole franchise’s power structure is

Enlighten me breh, what was wrong exactly? I heard 92.9 talking about it for a split second but didn't get to listen close. Don't owners/team presidents fire coaches? Do GMs usually have press conferences to discuss coach firings? II'm not denying this franchise is fukked and McKay needs to kick stone fukkin mountain, but what's really the issue here?

My take on it is that the GM is typically responsible for hiring the coach and if I’m not mistaken has been the way Blank has had his GM’s (McKay & TD) generally operate since after he fired Dan Reeves.

I get that TF was hired at the same time as AS but his absence at the press conference means he probably won’t be leading the decision making process for our next coach. It’ll be McKay and Blank

Alright here are some of the head coaching candidates.

Ben Johnson
Jim Harbaugh
Eric Bieniemy
Dave Canales
Frank Smith
Mike McDonald
Raheem Morris
Bobby Slowik
Shane Waldron
Dan Quinn
Brian Flores
Aaron Glenn
Lou Anarumo
Brian Johnson
Todd Monken

Let's get some pretty obvious things out the way
Blank sure as hell isn't signing Eric Bieniemy, Brian Flores, Aaron Glenn, Brian Johnson, Raheem Morris or Dan Quinn

IMO I think this coaching search will boil down to.
Shane Waldron, Lou Anarumo or Brian Callahan

It'll prolly fall between Lou or Callahan.

Why not breh? You think Blank on :mjpls: time?

I'd be good with either of your choices, Callahan's a McVay disciple and Lou's defense could fit our current personnel + possibly a connection with Bates

McDonald and Slowik would be my other favorites on the list, besides the undesirables of course :mjpls:

Name the first black head coach Blank has signed...........

Raheem and Emmit Thomas don't count they were interim coaches.

I strongly believe Terry is just a "head piece" ( A minority hire to be exact) we all know Rich and Blank take lead on hiring a head coach.

Wyche said this is what they've been doing. So TD was just a figurehead too?

There has been a significant influx of Black GM hires though, with 7 hired in the last 4 years, so you might be right on that :francis:

Thing about those comp picks is they incentivize hiring us for subordinate positions(OC, director of player personnel, etc), but they don't benefit the team hiring for HC/GM, besides the benefit of having the most qualified candidate for the job of course :pachaha:

If we still wanna look at all the new Black GMs through a :mjpls: lens, then it's because the title/power of a GM is somewhat arbitrary. Every front office has a team of people to make decisions. The HC is the boss of the team on the field, while the owner/team president is the boss off the field, not the GM. So the league can say they have 8 Black GMs "leading organizations" despite having questionable levels of power.

GMs really aint shyt(relatively speaking) now that I think about it :ohhh:
