it's a stretch, but I was wondering if Ross and Jay were affiliated before rap and Signed him based on that, or Jay was affiliated with the nikkas who made money off ross, and signed him as a return favor to them.

Nah Ross literally says this in his book. He new Jay from his dealing days, that’s why he was able to get a feature in his first record and never had a problem getting any Jay features his entire career

It’s the entertainment industry homie, anybody that thought Ross was the biggest drug dealer in Miami before rap is dumb. He played high school ball, went to college, came back home to becoming a CO. That’s actually a normal hood dude trajectory, like driving buses, mail carrier etc.
