We can talk about 90’s WCW as well. Hoegan showed up and immediately spiked interest and went over him to enhance poor business. There’s also a reason why Bischoff (although poorly) booked the NWO beating the hell out of him night in and night out when actual needle movers arrived in WCW.

That makes sense if you really think about it. If Flair came up in the business in the mid 00's, he'd no question be more of a Kenny Omega than a CM Punk or a Bryan Danielson.
Remember Cm punk & Daniel bryan were supposed to be the next austin & rock, but wwe was "holding them back".
What's stopping them now
Bryan has a family now, he's putting family first.
Punk is in his 40s, and wasted years of his life away from wrestling because of wwe. He isn't the man he once was and it is all wwes fault
He's definitely the most influential. His finishing sequences and moves copied by everyone. Buddy Rogers of his era
