I genuinely believe AEW was on this trajectory of growth organically, and would be selling out the same arenas and bringing in the same 900k viewers with or without Punk and Bryan

Having Punk and Bryan doesn’t hurt and have improved the product, but I don’t think they changed business much at all

And that’s not a shot, I think that’s just how the business works these days. Branding is everything. One man isn’t changing much outside of an unsustainable spike in interest.
We’ve got the business Vince wanted after Rock left him. He wanted the brand to be bigger than any one name, and the audience whether they know it or not has been trained that way whether it be Impact, AEW, or whoever else. It’s really not fair to hold these guys accountable for that when it was the same deal with them in the company they came from. Nobody has any records showing Punk or Bryan “moved needles”. Show me the ratings spike for Bryan’s return when he was the planets champion.

Yep.

And it’s unfortunate because it gives Vince leeway to pump out a shytty product. Nobody is bigger than the brand..

People instantly think WWE when they hear “wrestling” because it’s embedded in American culture. They’ll always have the casual eye for that reason specifically. WWE has a Disney like stranglehold on the industry at this point.

I feel like if fukkin Cena showed up in AEW at this point, it would spike ratings for a week or two by a few hundred thousand, before bottoming back out.

that’s just the industry these days. As long as AEW is growing organically, which it is, they’ll be fine. Expecting to start pumping out 2 million weekly viewers because a few guys show up isn’t realistic and setting yourself up for disappointment

Now he's about to have the most PPV match appearance record.
Great, what to show for it :mjlol: I'm having trouble naming 2/3 "classics" he's been apart of

Flair literally just contradicted himself with the reasons those 3 are in one of their own, and placing Orton in there

I wonder if AEW was about to bring in Ric Flair for something like when he showed up in AAA, but then they dropped him cause of the scandal. He'd probably want to shyt on Tony Khan for not giving him the money :troll:

Anybody else feel kinda sad that "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair looks to have done that podcast from an efficiency apartment? :mjcry:
