No attempt was made to argue that. The point was that he was a Democrat with those anti-medicine, anti-science views. Those views were not something that popped up immediately after he left the Party. Those views were there all along. I am also willing to bet those views were not unique to him in his family, a famously known entity in the Democratic Party.

Well, he left before that point. His departure was because Biden decided to run again, against what he promised of being a one term president. So, once that happened, he knew he could not get the nomination at all as a Democrat. He problably would not have received it anyway, even if Biden did not go back on his promise. Still, we are talking about his mind and reasonings, not what the actual outcome would probably have been.
All in all, the main point still remains that when he made that speech, he was running for the Presidency as a Democrat. This was the mentality of man who was accepted into the Party, that did not disavow him until after he left the party to run as an Independent.
Yes, and that was fukked up. Both parties still aren't the same though. Dems aren't taking away any funding from black people.
