Don't know of the validity, but if it is true, that's just some funny shyt.

Rex Ryan reportedly would welcome firing by Jets - NFL.com

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan might want out of the circus.

Citing unnamed sources, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reported on Friday that Ryan has suggested to "anyone who would listen" he would prefer being fired if owner Woody Johnson doesn't rectify the player personnel and coaching issues on offense.

"If Woody's not willing to do what it takes to fix the team, then (Ryan) knows he's better off being fired," a team source told Mehta. "If Woody is willing to eat some money and spend to get us out of this mess, then it's worth staying."

Some of that money Johnson would have to eat would be paid to first-year offensive coordinator Tony Sparano. There is also the question of what to do about quarterback Mark Sanchez, whose enormous guaranteed contract will be a hindrance to any major overhaul.

Mehta also reports that regardless of the concerns, Ryan will not quit.

The timing of the report is interesting, with "Black Monday" looming four days away, when several NFL coaches are sure to be fired. This could be Ryan setting up a pre-emptive defense of the Jets' poor season, or merely a note to management pointing out the team's biggest area of concern in a not-so-subtle way.

The Jets' offense is in need of retooling -- that was clear even before it lost its most dynamic player in Santonio Holmes. Changes are near inevitable this offseason. The Daily News report indicates the coach wants an offensive overhaul. However, unless Johnson promoted Sparano to head coach, that would happen if he fired Ryan anyway. The question is how much (if anything) Johnson will be willing to pay to start anew. Will he appease Ryan and change coordinators, fire him an his entire staff, or tell his employees to zip it and make it work?

If Ryan is fired, he would be one of the most sought-after coaches on the market. Yes, his bravado may turn off some suitors, but his coaching capability is unquestioned. And even if he didn't land one of the several coaching jobs that would open up, he'd be No. 1 on everyone's list for a defensive coordinator.

Im not even a Jet fan but you can get those " I just dont give a shyt anymore" vibes from Rex. None of the enthusiasm is there anymore. Sanchez is a coach killer. :youngsabo:

Here we go again with this fakkit Manish and his bullshyt unnamed sources...:smh:

It would be downright hilarious if Ryan was really blaming anyone but himself for the lack of talent on offense...The dudes biggest offensive acqusition as the Jets HC was Fez whose one of the worst QB's I have ever seen...Since then he's used up the majority of our picks on defensive players...All of our first rounders since Fez have been defensive players Ryan begged for...

I called this a couple weeks ago. It was pretty clear that he was tryna get fired from the moves he was pulling out there towards the end of the year. He doesn't wanna be a quitter because that would lower his market value but if he is fired he'll have a HC gig next year no doubt.

That's why I said if it's true, it's a comedy.

Rex is probably the main reason the offense sucks.

It's funny how closely mirrored they are to Buddy.

That could make sense if you consider the absolute denial of going to Tebow at any point (Woody's guy) and then sticking with Sanchez until the bitter end.

Could be very true.

Rex is a very good coach. Anybody who says different is stupid. What's stopping Rex from becoming a great coach is the other sht that he likes to do.

He is a very good defensive coordinator. He needs to learn how to be a head coach though.

He is because he thinks his defenses can be good enough to win despite a shytty offense.

Oh yeah, been saying that for a while.

He has this complete hands off approach, like he can't even be bothered with the offense. You see that shyt in press conferences the way he stresses his defenses stats and accomplishments all the time.

He really should just go to like NE so he can focus all his time on defense.
