I hated it. The trailers were amazing but the actual movie was just 
To me Prometheus is to the Alien franchise what the Prequels were to the Star Wars trilogy
I remember sitting in the theater, it had been okay so far, about half way thru, around the time the sandstorm started and when the dude turned into a zombie or something, i knew Ridley had blown it
The last hour was just a mess. And I hated how the engineers looked like something out of Star Trek or Star Wars
It just didn't feel like an Alien movie. Nothing scary, no atmosphere. It just felt flat and wrong.
The scene where the were inspecting and operating on the space jockeys head was amazing tho. That was the only scene where they got the vibe right. That stuff was like straight out of a paul veroheven flick

That would just be even more of a reason to hate it
I hate it had to be made with a sequel in mind. I wouldn't have minded if it was 3hr long but complete movie. There are too many shortcuts for it to be a good film and that's why it looks like a clusterfukk IMO.
It has been said earlier but for example the sacrifice of Elba's character is poorly scripted and way too quick to happen. You don't decide to sacrifice yourself in a second even though it is to protect Earth, above all if you bring two people with you (two people who don't even argue about that outcome, I would have been like
i'm out this ship fool) !! To me it was absolutely incoherent.
And the "abortion" scene...
I like Noomi Rapace but that scene and its consequences were whatever.

It was just
how the next scene completely ignored the fact that she had just aborted an alien creature out her body. It was insulting on so many levels. Such a sloppy movie

Right..she just aborted an alien baby, but decided to go to the next room and listen to Weland give a speech about immortality and go back to the ship with him without informing anyone there was a damn alien squid baby on the ship!

Also Idris and his crew let Vickers hit a scientist with a flamethrower when they could have rushed her from the back....but when they get the call to take out the ship....no hesitation.....

Anytime you have to read an essay to understand a movie, it's probably poor writing on the movies part
Ehh it was an interesting read nonetheless. I liked it for what it was. Ridley even agreed to some of the shyt being assumed in that theory. Can't wait for the sequel.

Yeah in the sense of fantasy scifi...
The alien franchise as well as prometheus is not that type of scifi..its more grounded
That movie wasn't being made anyway brother, del Toro wanted it to be an R rating and the studio wasn't having that
