In honor of the upcoming Academy Awards for this weekend I decided to take a trip down memory lane, and take a retrospective look at the last 20 Best Picture winners and see if they hold up after all these years or they deserved the Oscar that year.

Chronological order

2001- A Beautiful Mind
I remember watching this movie, and thought it was cool. It was not a bad movie at all, but I thought way better movies came out that year. My vote would have gone to Fellowship of the Rings and In the Bedroom

2002- Chicago
To be honest I have only watched bits and pieces of this movie. I'm not a fan of musicals, so I never got around to watching the whole thing. I thought it was cool Queen Latifah got a nomination. That's all I remember about this movie. The Two Towers or Gangs of New York would have gotten my vote.

2003- Return of the King
Hands down deserved it. This is saying a lot considering the number of classics that came out that year

2004- Million Dollar Baby- sigh. This is the movie that finally gave Morgan Freeman an Oscar, so that's a plus. Ray or Aviator would have gotten my vote

2005- Crash
I thought it was OK when I was watching it in real time, but in no way did it deserve any awards. Munich would have gotten my vote that year.

I will post some more later on

crash is one I'll never agree with

rented it after it won and was like :dahell: on why this won.

it's not bad by any means...but didn't feel like a best picture winner
Exactly especially when there were better movies that did not even get nominated.

2006 The Departed- a hell of a movie. I knew while watching the movie that Scorsese was finally going to win Best Director. hands down deserved it

2007 No Country for Old Men- although I have issues with this movie I can't deny the top notch filmmaking in this film. My vote would have went to There Will Be Blood, but by no means is No Country a bad pick.

2008- Slumdog Millionaire- The Dark Knight year lol. This movie is ugh. Danny Boyle is a talented director, but man this is a piece of crap. The dance sequence at the end is cringe. Out of the nominees Benjamin Button would get my vote.

2009- The Hurt Locker- not a bad movie just overrated. To be honest I don't remember anything memorable about this movie. This did not deserve best pic. Avatar would have been my pick hands down or Inglorious b*stards.

2010 The King's Speech- This is one of those movies that I thought would be a snooze fest, but it's actually pretty good and surprisingly entertaining. In a year with Toy Story 3, The Social Network, and The Fighter its no way in hell it deserved to win.

2011 The Artist
If you're going to a Gimmick movie make sure it's memorable. Hugo had similar themes as this movie and did a better job with the storytelling.

2012 Argo
I thought Argo was great when I watched it. I don't know how well it holds up, but I was throughly entertained when I last watched it. Django gets my vote this year

I literally laughed out loud at that musical scene in Shape of Water. Couldn't even try to take it seriously by that point.
I thought Slumdog Millionaire dance scene was Cringe. Thanks for reminding me

2013- 12 Years a Slave- masterpiece. The only negative thing I have to say about this movie. This is not a good date movie. ( that's another story for another day).

2014 - Birdman- pretentious piece of shyt Gimmick movie. This might give The Artist a run for its money as the worst Best Picture of the past 20 years. Whiplash gets my vote this year.

2015- Spotlight. Fine movie, but didn't deserve best picture. I would have voted for the Revenant or Mad Max
