people need to realize harbaugh and whoever is calling plays will remain conservative. the only time theyll let kaep air it out deep is when theyre behind or if he sees single coverage that he likes and WR is open.

I think if we had someone like drew brees, wed be doing the same exact shyt.

Yep and it's funny because people always got on Smith for that, like he was a game manager.

The coach is the game manager, you can tell the guy takes a very conservative approach and thr QB is just running his gameplan.

To me every QB wants to be the gun it out type.

check this, newest tidbit from pff:

San Francisco 49ers: On passes where the time to throw is more than three seconds, Vernon Davis has 12 catches for 209 yards. That yard total is the highest in the league

not sure if its among the TEs or all receivers, still...some food for thought

Pretty interesting stuff, I don't know what it amounts too, i`d say basically he frees himself of coverage when a QB finds the time with his legs or the line holds up well.

yea, my initial thought as well. also could be that when qb gets time, VD gets open on long-developing routes

San Francisco 49ers
Record: 9-3-1
Shariff Floyd, DT, Florida

Tennessee G Dallas Thomas would be a perfect fit because of his versatility and agility, but the 49ers might not invest a fourth first-round pick along the line to go with Joe Staley, Mike Iupati and Anthony Davis. However, Floyd's versatility to play inside or kick outside to end makes him a great fit on the other side of the ball. He can anchor against the run, chases plays all over the field and had a monster 2012 season.

given how poor this draft is for WRs, I think a CB/S is prolly optimal in the first. or a high-grade DE/DT. WR (assuming moss, ginn are gone) is next along with NT, also wouldnt mind some more Oline/OLB depth

Yeah I think we got a lot of room for depth pickups, I`m not worried about corner but safety/OLB/d-line concern me for sure.

youre not worried about corner ? :shaq2: los is frauding it up after the big contract and brown is fukking up quite often. culliver looks to be the best corner we have and he still gets burned one on one...plus it doesnt help our safeties are in the middle of the field and are always late to help on the sideline throws.

I really don't believe Brown is fukking up as much as you`d like to think.

Culliver is emerging in a big way and our pass defense is playing better than it was last year.

I think the reality of the game is you have to temper your expectations with pass coverage. this league is designed for QB's to throw it down the field.

I think we limit the big plays better than any other defense in the NFL. We let up only 5 yards per pass attempt, lowest in the league.

our pass d looks better statistically than it was last year because this year we can be ran on, and teams are taking advantage of that. 4 games rushed for 130+ yards on us this year already,
last year+playoffs not a single team has rushed for that yardage against us.

not to mention, facing campbell, sanchez, pickspatrick, skelton, and rookies 3 times...

all of our CBs and safeties are liabilities in coverage. and yes, I agree the league is passing league. that doesnt mean I should close my eyes every time a pass is thrown to a receiver one and one and pray its overthrown.

los starting remind me of clements, dude is giving receivers huge cushions and starts to get faked out by moves a ton

Is Brown hurt? someone told me he was it would explain why he has fallen off the last few weeks.

Khaled Elsayed ‏@PFF_Khaled
2.34% of Chris Cullivers coverage snaps result in him giving up a 1st down or TD Lowest of all CBs with at least 100 snaps in coverage

:ohhh:

Yep, that boy Culli is getting there.

I saw it last year, he has all the tools and the mentality, ever since that Detroit game last year and how he handled covering CJ.

That 2011 draft really looks like a good one in it's 2nd year.
