D is gonna they're work cut out for them against the Saints they need to keep playing with that edge .. We already know with the Saints how dynamic they are on O ..so it's gonna b important to limit heir big plays and get off the field on 3rd downs ...hopefully Aldon keeps playing at this level ..he'll start seeing some doubles

The defense is, but the offense is going against the worst defense in the league, so we should be able to literally match point for point if it comes to that. I just hope whoever starts at qb continues the momentum from this past game. I have faith that our Defense can get stops, though.

New Orleans has been running the ball better however. And Chicago started off the game running right up the gut. As the game wore on and it got out of hand, they obviously had to go away from that, but that still concerns me in the long run. We have to do something about the nose getting moved off the point of attack going forward.

sop is getting abused and LBs are getting blocked. mcdonald needs to step the fukk up. justin is still a tad slow for his usual self. I also think the relative lack of pass rush prior to this game is hurting them in that sense-they try to pass rush more and worry less about the run ...and its hurting them

This is why I said we should have gotten Albert Haynesworth specifically for this reason. Sop is good but he has benifitted from Vic Fangio's system and Tomsulas adept coaching. We gotta get a true nose tackle in there.

Didn't Haynseworth not want to play in a 3-4 in Washington?

I think playing for a winning team will change people's opinions, Washington wasn't that. Haynesworth is all ego, but for our purposes, he would be useful either way this needs to be addressed next year.

I mentioned this in the game thread, but I'll mention this here as well. I was really impressed with Kaep's ability to check the niners into the right play. Not many young and inexperience qbs are able to do that in their first start. Very impressive.

It's pretty interesting to me that for the most part it seems like the media wants the 9ers to stick with Alex. So far I've only heard two people come out in support of a QB change Lowell Cohn and Bradon Tierney. Which is strange because Tierney has always been on Alex dikk now all of suddenly he wants a QB change? Think he's just trying to stir the pot for his radio show. No wonder they ran that clown outta NY.

I will say this, if Jim Harbaugh decides to go with Kaepernick. Do it now. We can go 4-2 or even split and not hurt our chances in the playoffs. Otherwise we stick with Alex. Neither decision is a bad one and in Harbaalke I trust. This is a good QB problem, not a bad one in the sense that there is really no bad decision.

I do think in the long term though Kaep has made himself a potential starter sooner rather than later. Even when he scrambles he always looks downfield. His vision has improved dramatically from last year. His potential is definitely high. He makes multiple reads quickly, he's just a modern NFL QB, with the right combo of athleticism and QB smarts. I'm rooting for him and Alex's success. I'm excited.

One more thing shout out to our O-Line. That pass blocking was insane and I hope they can channel that the rest of the season. If they stay pass blocking that well we have the best O-Line in the league and it's not really close. Especially considering the youth of our line, we could have stalwart lineman for the next 5-10 years easy.

pass blocking was good mostly cuz bears had a vanilla pass rush gameplan imo. they didnt expect kaep to pass like that. altho I must say kaep being already more competent in the pocket than alex def. helps

the rams took our line to school the week before, remember ? it wasnt pretty, chris long was shytting on our line and kaep was running for his life

Chris Long is a problem though, if he weren't on the Ram's he'd be noticed as one of the best D-Linemen in the L and even with that we did ok. Alex Smith does have a tendency to hold on to the ball for too long, I would say at least 1/3 of the sacks come from that.
