shyt kinda flew by because people thought Pac was gonna live. No one actually thought he wouldn’t make it and it was to the point a few of my homies in school would do pranks like “Pac died” etc etc and I would shyt on them for it. Little did they know he actually wouldn't survive it. And THAT was when time stopped for me. That shyt felt unreal. Couldn’t watch none of his movies where he died at the end for a minute after that.
Plus wasn’t no social media. You heard your updates on the radio or MTV news. But yea, I remember shrugging it off like he been shot before, he’ll be good. That was the saddest Friday ever when he passed

A lot of people on YouTube on different videos I’ve seen posting about how super chill he was in person. From people talking about them buying them food randomly at pappadeaux to him helping random people with groceries etc.

Apparently mad people met him walking around casually in Washington Heights over the years

These 6 days went by quick

Old heads who remember Pac being in the hospital, did those 7 days fly by quick or did it feel like time stopped?
Hard to compare it cause there wasn’t social media the way there is now, I remember it feeling like longer than a week at the time, it was also basically the last week of summer holidays for students so everywhere was bustling with youths, just remember everybody being outside and mad groups of ppl and you would get updates from ppl face to face like “yo I seen they said this on Entertainment Tonight, or they said this on BET or MTV”. I remember everyone feeling really hopeful that he would pull through up until like day 4 or 5 and then a definite shift in energy. Everything feels different when you’re young tho too, and for my generation a lot of us looked at Pac as more than just a rapper or entertainer, right or wrong a lot of ppl in that 12-18 bracket viewed him as a leader and someone who you kinda modelled some of your behaviours after, or aspired to be like, the positive aspects and the negative ones. But to answer your original question, I think in general everything moved slower during that era and not having your face Burried in a phone is a big part of why.

I have girlfriends who have hung out with DMX at his hotel room smoking blunts. They all said he was super sweet and respectful.

I’ll never forget. I came home from school and like normal I was listening to the radio and they were playing Pac. Nothing out the ordinary considering it was ‘96. I switched to the other station just to see what they were playing before I went back to Pac. They were playing Pac also, and it still didn’t register to me yet. Just thought it was a coincidence. So I went back to the other station and let that song finish. Then the DJ played the official recording where his death was announced. And they were like “he’s gone.” :mjcry:
I just sat in my room listening to the radio that whole afternoon through evening. They were playing a lot of non album cuts and even unreleased songs too that later showed up on his posthumous albums. I didn’t even go to speak to anyone in my family nor did I tell them because I was just at a loss of words. :(

Wow, that’s crazy that you were actually there. I’ve seen that clip a bunch of times watching Nas pace back and forth before he got into it. I know the show must go on, but I know that had to have fukked Nas up considering he was supposed to meet with Pac again after they squashed their beef.
