Plus wasn’t no social media. You heard your updates on the radio or MTV news. But yea, I remember shrugging it off like he been shot before, he’ll be good. That was the saddest Friday ever when he passed
I’ll never forget. I came home from school and like normal I was listening to the radio and they were playing Pac. Nothing out the ordinary considering it was ‘96. I switched to the other station just to see what they were playing before I went back to Pac. They were playing Pac also, and it still didn’t register to me yet. Just thought it was a coincidence. So I went back to the other station and let that song finish. Then the DJ played the official recording where his death was announced. And they were like “he’s gone.”
I just sat in my room listening to the radio that whole afternoon through evening. They were playing a lot of non album cuts and even unreleased songs too that later showed up on his posthumous albums. I didn’t even go to speak to anyone in my family nor did I tell them because I was just at a loss of words.
I was actually at the concert where Nas announced it. That was crazy.
Wow, that’s crazy that you were actually there. I’ve seen that clip a bunch of times watching Nas pace back and forth before he got into it. I know the show must go on, but I know that had to have fukked Nas up considering he was supposed to meet with Pac again after they squashed their beef.
