It’s a great three album run for a solo artist, but I think the best three album run is probably Redman. Kanye‘s first three albums are crazy. Sean Price has one of my favorite more recent ones. And with groups people gotta talk Mobb Deep, Kast, and MOP

I have to listen to and then there was X again. I remember being let down by it but I’ll listen to it today. It’s dope as fukk but I just remember it being a good step down from dark and hell is hot and flesh of my flesh

I'll give you Kayne's first 3 album being idk about any of the others. Maybe its because i grew up in that era but am having a hard time thinking of , i had jay in mind also but jay went semi commercial. X kept it raw.

as I finish this and go to start "and there was X" has there been a rapper that has had a better first 3 album run? am being serious right now. 3 classic albums back to back to back? Jesus.

i hate what the drugs and other antics have done to X's career overall, you rarely hear him mentioned in Top 5's, no disrespect to the dead but i hear pun mentioned more than X
i don't consider all three to be classics, but TI, Kanye, Jay, Nas, Jeezy (if you start at his major label releases) all had great first 3 album runs...not taking away from the Dog, but we have been blessed by a few solo artists and groups (Kast, ATCQ, EPMD) to give us "classic" 3-4 album runs

Pac with MATW, AEOM, and Makaveli.
Ice Cube with AMW, Death Certificate, and Predator
Redman with WTA, DIADS. and Muddy Waters
Nas with Illmatic, IWW, and I Am

there’s def a few more too... Especially groups.

I don’t want to get into too much hyperbole but yes the first three albums X had a great run.

It’s crazy I never heard anyone mentioned X in their top 5 let alone top 10. But if he doesn’t come out of this situation, a lot of narratives will change like always when an artist passes, especially on this site.

But off the top of of my head Nas’s first three album run, Big only had two, and of course Ice Cube and a few others if you get into groups. I can’t put pac in there because he rally ascended musically with thug life, MATW, etc..

Why can’t u put Pac in there? It’s not restricted to the first 3 albums is it? Because Pac has one of the greatest 3 album runs of all time in hip hop. His just happened to be his last 3. And X was always in my personal top 5-10 list. nikkas legit couldn’t tell me shyt about X back in the day. I always felt me and @FreshAIG was the biggest X fans on this site.

he's in my top 10 along with people like kanye, kendrick, and TI - folks people seem to be afraid to include in their top 10 when looking for daps on thecoli
