Very different and thank you for giving an actual response to how he was "tricked into doing crack". The statement shouldn't have ever been "tricked by a friend", should have been "some bytch ass nikka gave him a blunt laced wit coke or crack and he's been hooked ever since".

I still stand by my statement regardless. If there is a chance that anyone of my children could.possibly have this happen to them I would tell them "STAY THE fukk AWAY FROM DRUGS"
I mean yeah it’s a nice idea to just stay away from drugs, but reality makes that a very difficult thing for a lot of people. It’s like saying don’t have sex before marriage, or don’t drink until you’re 21. I’m not saying drug use should he encouraged, but there has to be an alternative approach that takes into account youth, rebellion, curiosity, peer pressure, anxiety, depression, self medication, etc.

It’s just not realistic to expect every kid to go “nope. Sorry. My parents said I can’t.” I mean we tried the whole Just Say No campaign in the 80’s/90’s and it failed pretty badly. People are always going to have an interest in mind altering and state altering substances.

Heartbreaking really.

My first favorite rapper. First heard X on the 4,3,2,1 track. It was actually the video. The mic presence, the voice, the flare, the goggles, the dogs. I was instantly captivated. I copped the source hip hop hits volume2 and would always fast forward to X verse on the cassette player. IDAHIH had the summer on fire. Remember riding my bike around my hood hearing blare from car to car.

100% with you. All of my children are grown with the oldest being 22 and the youngest being 18 and I have taught all of them to make sure they trust the people they're around. If they choose to smoke make sure that it's their shyt and they rolled up, if they drink with someone make sure they don't take a drink given to them by a random stranger. shyt ain't nobody to be trusted in my book. I tell them you don't have friends you have hanger ons and don't trust ANYBODY

In a truly “brain dead/minimal brain function” situation, it’s only base functions and everything is kind of a reflex. The nervous system still works but there isn’t a person to give an output.

Pain technically isn’t a real thing but we feel it. It’s our brain saying “hey stop that! It could possible damage my vehicle” or “I’m going to eject some fuel from my vehicle, here’s a warning for all of the vehicle’s systems.”

Think of “brain dead” as having a computer without an OS or maybe there’s a missing BIOS. Like you hear the computer fan running but that’s about it. Who we are stored in the tissues of our brains, the CPU/motherboard/RAM/Memory all that combined. When the tissues of the brain are starved of oxygen, those tissue die and all that data is lost. What’s left of the brain and nervous system can only do whatever functions it still has the remaining data to do.

There may be the infrastructure for the input/output to run the process that we feel as pain but there’s no program linking it all together.

I mentioned reflex earlier because you may stimulate a possibly “brain dead” person and they may move, but that doesn’t mean they are what we would consider alive. I don’t want to traumatize anyone, so I won’t post videos, but a good way to better understand the concept is looking up “agonal breathing”. The person is gone, but the brain/nervous system’s base emergency programming tells it to go into survival protocol anyways. If you get knocked out you can do a form of agonal breathing and respond to pain stimuli to help you avoid further damage until you wake up. We see fighters looking like they’re having seizures (limbs stuck mid movement) and gasping for air because their brains went into survival mode, to protect itself and avoid further damage, even though their brain fukks itself over by stiffening the body.

Sorry for the roundabout explanation

Perfect explanation

reading alot of comments, I'm convinced, most of you are sociopaths and narcissists.

either drop your condolences, keep it respectful and on topic or STFU.

nobody cares about your weidro ass hot takes and need to presume the moral highground saying lil slick shyt trying to pass it off as just "real talk".

This shyt took the wind out of my sails and i'm bent at the moment, I aint got much to contribute because i'm blown right now.

either way this shyt goes, i'ma stay prayed up for X

I just been on a Pop Smoke binge and it got me depressed thinking about what if... Now this shyt happens

I'm getting tired of losing our greatest soldiers, shyt is exhausting on the spirit

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
One of my favorite videos to go back and watch from time to time is the video of DMX on that Slingshot ride. Breh was terrified, but ready to go. Plus it sounded like he was adlibbing for one of his song intros.

"Oh shyt we did that! WE DID THAT with a ice face! :patrice: There's the camera there."

As a fan of amusement parks that always brings some joy to me whenever I watch it.

Not only was he tricked, the person who tricked him was his mentor. 30 year old man who gave a 14 year old a blunt laced with crack. You can say what you want, but I’m pretty sure most people who smoke weed started during their teen years, so how can we blame X?

It was more about you harping on the “don’t do drugs” mantra. Yes, you shouldn’t do drugs, but who did DMX have guiding him like you do for your kids?
