damn, RIP DMX.

if you were born in 88 like me, growing up there was a good chance DMX (or Mase) was you first favorite rapper. he was one of mine.
shyt, he might've been the first rapper you remember liking.

I remember that summer when he dropped and all the older kids at summer camp had his album.

Legit had everyone barking and going wild when those tracks played
:russ:

RIP to a legend. Your impact will be felt forever

when I was 7 years old my sister tried to tell me about someone getting stabbed at a DMX concert as a reason I shouldn’t go see the Up in Smoke Tour, that was my first impression of DMX and his fans. He was making a harder type of music than even the Gangsta rap I had been exposed to at that age, as a result his fan base was more aggressive. I did end up going to to Up In Smoke Tour and I encountered no violence there but a lot of young woman flashing boobs

When I finally did see X across the country in Pomona many years later I got a parking ticket. Due to a two hour parking from 12 to 12 or something like that meant to intentionally confuse concert goers. I eventually sold the car and never paid the ticket

“Think when you die how many's gon' miss you
Lean over in your casket and kiss you
Send you on your way with a blessing
And pray that another learned a lesson”

RIP Earl Simmons, your work as DMX will live on for ever
