Tom is playing his role well all things considered and I don’t think the kids/teens who are watching these movies care about that aspect, OP.
Team-up scenarios in comic books that we all wish could be on the big screen back in the day finally coming to fruition in this age. Everything else is gravy.

Low key that's been a common thread in every MCU movie since they started doing team ups. Cap took a back seat in civil war, and you could argue his second movie was more up cap and black widow movie.
Black Panther took a back seat to women in his own movie, i'm hearing rumors shang chi is doing the same. Thor Ragnorok was more an ensemble film than a solo thor movie.
Black Widow was outshined in her movie by her replacement. Antman has basically given up top billing to the wasp. and they've pretty much already announced that Captain marvel will do the same for the other Marvel's in her next movie. Doctor Strange 2 is going to double as a scarlet witch movie etc. Blade might be the next true solo film we get, but i heard rumor that his daughter was going to be a major part of the film so even he might get outshine by a younger female version before long.

She was very likeable in Wandavision, although that "They'll never know what you sacrificed for them" line still has me miffed to this very day. Wanda enslaved an entire town so she could play make believe.
