No stop saying this bullshyt. Aristide had to go. He’s one evil ass nikka. The biggest issue with Haiti was the abolishment of the army.
You mean the army whose leaders had private airports in their backyards where they received drug deliveries and which was responsible for 5 coups in 1988? :mjlol:
You can think of Aristide what you want, but creating death squads of former tonton macoutes and arming gangs in the slums to get rid of him and oppress his supporters is a destabilizing legacy of violence that Haiti still hasn't recovered from. And the reason he disbanded the army is that it was heavily involved in both.

I have a lot of love and respect for Haiti and Haitians. One of my exes is Haitian and she used to take me to Miami and we would hang with the Haitian people out there. Good people. Also respect to them for freeing themselves and sending the French packing.

The United States and France has been fukking them for over 200 years. :francis:

I thought the move to pacifism was a good thing since Costa Rica also abolished their military and been doing fine since

Haiti not costa rica tho, most costa ricans are docile slow witted half cacs from central America and Haiti is the most active country in the carribbean, a region known for fukkery historically. Its like comparing switzerland to serbia. Hate to say it but us carribbeans need a heavy hand sometimes or well wild the fukk out

For one Aristide is a priest who ran for president. Nikka was getting kick backs from all of the drug lords. He even gave up some of them to the Feds(see Jacques Ketant). He unleash all his followers to rob, kill and pillage back in the early 1990s. Killed a respected radio DJ because the DJ talked about him. He killed many other people. So no he’s not a good person and needed to be :camby:

Security as a whole went down after they abolished the Haitian army.
:stopitslime: Aristite was democratically elected in 1990, that could have ended the instability that followed the collapse of the Duvalier Regime, but the military and the oligarchs together with the US decided to depose him and staged a coup in 1991. They then created FRAPH and armed inner city gangs to persecute his supporters, set fire to the slums, committed massacres, ran up in peoples houses, gang raped the woman and kidnapped and tortured the men. When Clinton came to power, he facilitated the return of Aristide in 94 who then established the chimères in the 2000s because ex military and oligarchs once again organized paramilitary groups to depose him. shyt went downhill from there, but he was not the one who started this, he was confronted with a violent opposition and adapted to it.

Yo props on mentioning this king. Willfully admit I'm ignorant of Haitian history past 1804. How did such an esteemed warrior wind up having the same people he liberated hate him so much? Based off my Googles, he committed suicide to avoid assassination. Honest question.

In my opinion it was similar to how Dessalines got killed.... I dont think the Haitian citizens at that time understood the concept of nation-building after independence..... most were uneducated former slaves.... everyone wanted to just be free and have fun after independence.

Christophe established alliances with Great Britain (they were enemies of France) and was focused on building schools, getting vaccines, starting businesses, building the economy.

Haiti was the richest colony under the French and Christophe wanted to build it into a black empire.... it was basically like black men taking over the United States in the modern era.

Alexandre Petion was a socialist who controlled the South and everybody loved him because he gave away land and let everyone do whatever they wanted to do - but his economy was terrible and everyone was broke.

In the North, Christophe's economy was booming but people were unhappy because of the work hours.... Christophe was a Capitalist who continued the policy of Dessalines where everyone had to work or join the military to defend the country.

It was against the law to be lazy and not contribute to the economy or defend the nation.... The citizens raided the palace and killed his 16-year old son.... he killed himself.... his wife and daughters got exiled to Europe.

and ever since Christophe died, nothing has ever been the same.

He was our greatest leader...... I put him higher than Dessalines because he was actually a nation-builder..... He was travelling all over Europe having meetings with politicans and going shopping during the height of slavery.... flexing on his enemies.... Dessalines was just a warrior that got killed before he could build the nation...... Christophe ruled for almost 20 years strong..... The Northside of Haiti was prospering under his rulership.... Breh was the greatest.

The citizens did not understand the concept of nation-building and international politics.

I can guarantee they have had something to do with this.
Why are the Lebanese in Haiti?
