A couple of things... (Doing this on the phone so I'm just responding to everything I read in the thread)

We sold for a billion because our fanbase is one of the few that expands around the country. Not as big as say Pittsburgh or Dallas but we travel well as one of the original teams of the NFL.

Haslem, being our new owner gave Holmgreen an option to take a revised role w/ the team which he rejected so he will retire at end of season while giving Joe from the Eagles the ins & outs of the team once he's gone. I don't blame Holmgreen & I think he did a hell of a job but the owner developed a great relationship with Joe. (Last name escapes me)

With him coming from the Eagles, it's conceivable that the GM stays in place and our HC will probably save or lose his job from how we play out the rest of the year. We could really be 3-3 right now if we had Haden for those four games but I don't deal w/ what ifs.

Another thing with Holmgreen... I think he got lied to by Lerner (same way he did the fans) on his commitment to the team. His love was the soccer team he owned in Europe. I don't think Holmgreen was forced to take a lower position or retire, or be fired if that's how he wanted to play it... Just the new owner felt comfortable bringing in someone he trusted & had ties with the staff on the team already. I don't blame Mike for not wanting to take a lower position either because I believe he was given a promise of some ownership verbally as well.

Joe will be introduced tomorrow & Mike will speak later in the week.

I want to personally thank that fat ass cac (as a ravens fan) for not making moves to draft RG3. Nobody wants to deal with that c00n running around and throwing for 300+ twice a year.

The Pat Shurmer hire was the nail in the coffin. Not Weeden.

They've done ok in the draft. With the way the Steelers & Ravens are aging on defense this could be their division in 2 years.

Banner is walking into an untapped gold mine.

Thats the absolute truth. A lot of young talent on this team, actually the youngest team in the NFL. Shurmur's not the man for the job. The Browns need a REAL coach.

So all he got was 2 1/2 years to turn things around? Should get at least 4-5 years. Plus Holmgren knows his shyt.

And I would love it if they kept Holmgren to be that coach, and let him work with the chit he put together. They are a couple passcatchers and a free safety away from beatin' ass.

Holmgren hired Mangina didn't he?

How would Rex feel having a coach that's been to 3 SB overseeing him?

I'm not understanding why this would be an issue. Wouldn't you want someone that has that sort of experience? I can't imagine having a 'numbers guy' (or whatever Tannebaum is supposed to be) has worked out the way the Jets had expected.

He passed on RGIII
He actually tried hard to get him though, didn't he? They made a real good offer to StL; Skins just made a better one.

Reluctantly cosign. Always thought Cleve could be a sleeping giant, with the right ownership/management. From all I'm reading, this dude doesn't play, and he's gonna hit the ground running.
