They just spent 7 years signing every single indy wrestler who could pass a background check and wasn't a complete mark for themselves (and I don't mean this in a negative way). Where are they going to poach guys from at this point?

Impact? Already took the entirety of their upper midcard and up from 2013, already spat some of them back out. The current crop of midcard and up from there just isn't that good tbh.

ROH? Everyone there has either moved to AEW or was a #MeToo time bomb.

The lower tiers (NWA, GCW) are either rejects from the higher tiers or flabby and sick.

They already killed the britwres scene and have the worthwhile ones working NXT UK.

NJPW isn't really an option since the guys they would love to have are all lifers and working through injury already, or rejected a WWE contract when offered.

There's nothing left for the WWE to assimilate at this point. Might as well spend 3-5 years recruiting athletes who can be molded, let the Indies work themselves out, and begin poaching when the next Bryan Danielson/Nigel McGuinness/AJ Styles makes himself apparent. AEW is also quickly heading towards being too top heavy, so eventually there will be a logjam of guys who are clearly above the level of an ROH but don't want to work Japan full time, and they can get back to poaching.

There is a part of me that thinks this is a political move to punish Trips for NXT getting washed by AEW. We all know how much Paul loves to flex over signing the hottest indy darling or international talent. I would feel a little bad for him but he is a slimy political motherfukker himself so he is getting a taste of his own medicine.

Besides, the indys have been picked clean anyways. They need a few years to recover.

I feel bad for him in the sense that he tried to build a brand of developmental primarily based on work rate, true talent and passion & us fans are going to be thr ones getting deprived

Now people complaining cuz wwe letting folks go & giving the indys back their vanilla midgets.

This is what some of y'all wanted so here ya go :manny:

Well, as we all know it takes a mixed bag. You can't have all indy ppl and you can't just grab bodybuilders off the street.

There's a part of wrestling that will always be true to itself and can't be overly manipulated.

good who wants to see adam cole vs johnny gargano? this is why nxt fell off undisputed era look like they work at a restaurant.
who wants to see Mason Ryan vs Swagger:unimpressed: every night

Keep the strip club bouncers and the guy frying the wings off TV until they're ready.

We gonna have to agree to disagree.

You’ve got a generation of kids that grew up on late stage ruthless aggression / early PG era becoming NFL age.
I'd be curious to know how many of this next generation of NFL washouts really "grew up" on the ruthless aggression / pg era. Wasn't that when the fandom started trending older and they weren't creating the same amount of new fans?

Football was always a good feeder system for wrestling, catching those guys that barely missed playing in the NFL or washed out early for whatever reason. Football players tend to have natural charisma / shyt talking ability.

They’ve gotta be mindful tho, those same guys didn’t have MMA also as an option like they do now.

MMA is going to steal a lot of that football and collegiate wrestling talent that the WWE used to use back in the day.

If they are going to pack NXT with true rookies then they need to move it back to the network and let them actually develop.

So I guess we're going back to that mid-00's era of roided out charisma vacuums that can barely move and will be released and forgotten in a year or two.

All of their top talent right now were well known/established Indy/TNA stars. The only guys they've developed from scratch recently were Roman and Big E. Their track record is pretty poor, and this honestly sounds like a pretty stupid idea. But maybe they'll get lucky and get another 02/03 OVW class :patrice:
They wont because they didnt have control in OVW. The more they took over it went to sjit and the they started their own feeder promotion and havent produced anywhere near the amount of stars since

That OVW class wasn't that good either.

Cena/Orton/batista and them at the forefront never moved a needle.

Maybe they get a new Brock or something. Vince gambling on his way out.

This won’t last forever but I do wonder about current Indy guys and how this makes them feel. I remember there being a hiring freeze from TNA and from ROH at diff times and there was an effect
