The heart of it is people trying to compare the black struggle to other groups that face discrimination, when they're not nearly the same. They will always be two different things. Many sociologists have pinpointed the root cause for other groups making substantial gain ahead of us revolves around, society/ people in power becoming less racist towards them. So over time the dominant society is willing to give them opportunities, while denying us the same chance. In LA, Hispanics were once marginalized and stuck in densely populated, low income areas, with crime and lower quality of life outcomes. Over time they where gradually given permission to move to, less dense , with lower crime areas with better schools and start businesses.
That same opportunity has never been afforded to blacks on a large scale. Instead a black family or individual must be exceptional. Other ethnic groups can just be average at best and get by through working hard. Meanwhile we have to be exceptionally well off, smart or talented to get ahead. The notion that black people dont work hard is a fallacy.
