I tell you, I don't want to go back to the office. No way no how. Or at least not 5 days a week. Company I work for is getting pressured or greased by the city to have a bunch of us back cuz restaurants were eating well off of us. Since working from home I've saved a little bit of money. Not paying for a parking lease, ordering out for lunch once a week, if even that, when before I'd eat out 3-5 times a week pre pandemic. I dont miss snowy commutes, rainy commutes, getting off on a Wednesday and its storming outside and everybody forgets how to drive all of a sudden and we're in neverending traffic. I don't miss small talk with coworkers. I dont miss nosy coworkers. I dont miss elevator conversations. I don't miss "brief" meetings where I have to be present despite having no input to give. I dont miss ordering something and one of my work wives overhears and she wants to order something too that she'll pay for fine enough, but she wont go pick it up, and her order is always messed up for some reason. I dont miss gossiping, cattyness, chatty Patty's.
Yeah, fukk onsite work.
I’m never going back to an office.A Permanent Telework Policy and Telework Options for New York City Employees - Action Network
To: New York City employee unions, Mayor Bill de Blasio, New York City Council Members, and all candidates for New York City elected office
From: [Your Name]
"When the COVID-19 pandemic reached New York in early 2020, New York City did not have a telework policy. The City implemented a temporary telework policy and New York City employees have kept New York running throughout the pandemic. We proved that we can reliably and successfully telework. It is time for teleworking to become a permanent option for City employees. "
"While working side-by-side offers impromptu opportunities for collaboration and team building, technological advances have made these activities possible working remotely. We now know, much of what we do does not require us to be in-person to be efficient. On the contrary, there is good evidence from global studies that telework frees employees from common office-place distractions "
The workers really don't want to come back to the offices
But I don't think the NYC officials really would care about this. Those building leases have to get paid
Plus there are thousands of Building Workers that are out of a job because office workers are working from home
My mom works for the city and is about to retire because of this shyt. She's already in her 60's so she fine with doing so.
That means I'm about to have me a full time (free) babysitter.
