You aren’t telling the full story.

He wasn’t a true free agent, he was tagged with the non exclusive franchise tag. That means he could negotiate with other teams but there are a lot of caveats…….

- The Ravens could match the contract

- If the Ravens didn’t match you would need to tender them 2 first round picks.

- If you offered a contact, that money was on your books throughout the 5 day window. That means you didn’t have money available to offer anyone else, and then at the end of that 5 day window the Ravens could still match. At that point you are screwed.

- Here is the big one……..the entire ordeal was about Deshaun Watsons guaranteed contract. The other owners were pissed at the Browns for giving one to Watson so they decided they weren’t going to confirm that precedent by giving one to Jackson. No owner was going to give Jackson what he wanted, so in the end he was only negotiating with the Ravens even though you could technically say he was a “free agent”.
Thanks I came in here to say it was more nuanced than teams just not wanting him but this is great breakdown

Yeah he needed a different OC to grow with versus G Ro.

Look at G Ro with Chargers and I can tell Herbert ain't too happy. He not a good fit for a pocket passer and his schemes start out good but gets figured out and he fails to adjust properly.
Roman is ruining Herbert. Harbaugh looked at an elite QB and said let me ruin you with a dated offense.

Thanks, I really don't know why people on forums spread disinformation and try to get people to hate like they work for the KGB and NFL teams/Media is the US 1961 :mjlol:

He also said teamS went out of their way, when it was only one team that said it and it was not even official but some random journalist that said some "sources" said it. And the tweet is from like he same hour that the Ravens placed the tag on him.

They need to invent a function so that you can tag posts with a fake news tag, with in this case your post warning readers. :wow:

We may overrate Herbert a bit but yeah he is good to great QB talent that's being poorly managed.

I think Herbert has never had the benefit of a good head coach. Harbaugh came in and is trying to run the system he ran with Kap and Alex in 2024 when it was just shown it doesn’t win with Lamar who is better than both of them.

Staley wasn't a good HC and Lynn was too conservative and wasn't with Herbert enough. I agree with u.

I agree Jackson better than both Smith and Kaep and it is a dated system that he has now. Thr chargers not gonna be able to do much in their division as well being that Broncos defense is good and u know how they mostly lose to the Chiefs.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Antone remember when Lamar Jackson was a Free agent and NFL franchises went out if their way to immediately indicate that they weren’t interested in pursuing an NFL MVP QB? Now, Lamar is about to win his 3rd MVP. The Jets, Panthers, Falcons, Titans, and Commanders need to take the L for not going after an All time Great at Quarterback

Y'all being disingenuous as fukk...

He was FRANCHISED... meaning any team that even BID on him would have that cap space locked up during FREE AGENCY... And they would have it locked up until Baltimore either matched it, beat it or twiddled their thumbs while you had no money to get other players.... And after all that, they still gonna outbid you by a dollar and win

Y'all acting like he was an unrestricted free agent and teams just left him there. Baltimore did that on purpose so another team could do the hard work and get him to sign and then they just swoop in and match it.. And everybody knew it
