This storyline was obviously trash and a failed attempt to make the show edgier, but the worst thing about it was that it was unnecessary.
I rewatched the last two seasons and honestly, they didn't feel that different from the first four seasons. A lot of the episodes they made could have still happened without Dorian being Frank's son. That's the real issue here. It added absolutely nothing. Dorian being a bad kid, getting sent to boot camp......that could have still happened if he was just Frank's nephew. He was causing trouble from the beginning, so him stealing cars and getting involved with criminals should have had nothing to do with him getting back at Frank. The show would have been a lot better without that storyline and most likely would have went on the same path anyway.
