I think they could win the popular vote, but it’d be a tall task to get the EC votes from the south and Midwest. But like a wise man once said, anything is possible.
Before Obama was elected people would swear a black or even a half black president was impossible. That happening signified that the populace is at least open to the possibility of other presidents beyond straight white married men.

The only issue I saw with Newsom was when he got caught having a private get-together after he imposed a COVID lockdown. So in terms of out-of-touch, yeah, that's a bad look.

Newsom slept with his advisor's wife. Scumbaggery. But I don't think that's on the level of John Edwards scumbaggery. Recap: Edwards slept with his assistant, while his wife was battling Stage 3/4 cancer and was going to some of his rallies. Then got caught and tried to make his advisor claim the affair. Advisor was married and the wife wasn't having it. Then it was found out that the assistant was pregnant. And after he lost the nomination, he tried to have his mistress and wife be friends. The wife wasn't having it. Edwards is the truest of Dem scumbags. Top 3. Edwards, Weiner, ?.
Cuomo sadly. And I like Andrew.

Sure I guess.. but

it took a disastrous Iraq war, economic housing calamity, and a repub candidate making songs about more war for Obama to even have a shot tho:why:

It would be a terrible look for democrats.

Double down on Dems being beholden to wealthy corporate interests, double down on dems being insincere and arrogant, double down on dems not actually caring about black folk, double down on dems being focused on identity issues over policy.

Solely because he young, presents well on TV and a certain minority of the electorate thinks it would be cool.

Don't do that. Because all that was true when Kerry ran and his L was heavy. Obama's DNC convention propelled him on the national stage in a way no other candidate could match. Between that and his brief Senate run, he was the IT guy.

exactly. He's popular among boomer white folks. They're still really able to get reeled in by platitudes spoken by someone that speaks fairly well and doesn't seem to rock the boat or press any issues that make them uncomfortable. And him being gay makes them feel like he's more progressive than he actually is in terms of policy. And think he's far from embraced by the LGBTQ community at large.

Pete is an awful candidate. He has no business running the nation, has more billionaire donors than anyone that ran in 2020, and like you said, he's pretty much hated by the black community, as well as younger voters in general. I've even heard a lot of people in his home state dislike him.

He looks like a rat too, and IMO he's shown some short fused behaviors. He doesn't keep cool under pressure, and he's thin skinned.

Pete might've actually have been my least favorite democrat candidate that ran for 2020.

I think he's smart enough to realize he's not a viable presidential candidate. This is all about building enough of a buzz and "organic" support that whoever is the nominee will be forced to choose him for VP.

If Pete wasn't a homosexual, he'd be a shoe-in for President in 2024 (or whenever Biden retires). This country will not vote a gay man into office. It's just not going to happen.
People said the same thing about a black man before it happened. The US is as receptive as its ever been to the possibility of a gay president. It's still a long shot but it could happen.

If he wasn’t gay he’d be Beto O’Rourke and be *far* from a shoo-in for President :russ:

You’re deeply overestimating how much being gay hurts him, instead of helping him.
