There used to be some great Mall arcades in the chicago area.

Tilt at Ford City mall - Was my main spot, Tekken, MvC, Virtua fighter, MK2-3. I'd spend my saturday there and walking around the mall in between gaming sessions. It was a huge space easily the biggest mall arcade I remember.

Aladdin's Castle at Chicago Ridge mall - They would hold organized tournaments there. Mall had a super mixed clientele My first run ins with asian fighting gamers. I would get washed, but soo many people would crowd that spot on the weekends. :ohlawd: .

Back in 91'-94'

-the arcade that used to be on Ferguson & Lakeland next to the OG Blockbuster
-THE OG WEST END :wow:
-Old Big Town area
-Buckner & John West area
-Town East area
-Garland/Northwest Hwy area
Celebration Station and Putt Putt were lit back then as well.
These areas were middle class majority white during that time. :pachaha:

Had to reup this shyt. Thinking about being a kid and going to coney island arcades and astroland to play mortal kombat 3 and ultimate mk3. Having to get quarters from the change machine and that smell that only folks that been there would know. It's one of those things that if you never experienced or seen it, you missed out forever. If you weren't born yet, then you most definitely missed out. shyt really makes me realize how the 2000s cant fukk with the 90s. The 2000s created a lot of sensory deprivation where people can't really feel and experience life anymore. shyt is sad. Nowadays people don't even go out anymore and if they do, folks are more intuned to capture that shyt for the web or on their social media instead of living and feeling that shyt, letting it stink into memory. Allowing our humanity to just feel it with our fukking five senses.

Man, i was in a casino the other day and i realized that this arcade culture is still alive and well. It's just for some reason the video games don't understand the market they're missing out on is exactly the same as the gambling industry. They were charging people to play but not offering any real rewards. They need to operate like slot machines, give you a payout based on whatever factor. Someone can figure out an algorithm. Online gaming already figured it out for their market but that's different. You pay for abilities and stuff.
But i basically walked in and it looked like a grownup version of an arcade. and i was like what the fukk? You know how much more fun Mortal Kombat is than penny slots? If i had money i would build the worlds first Arcade Casino, it would be pay to play like online games, but the incentive to keep playing its winning prizes for various achievements and a full on cash payout if you set a record time.

I have a feeling it's one of those, "why didn't i think of that?" ideas that will make someone a billionaire. But it takes alot of capital to really get it off the ground.
You'd still have all the legal loopholes of a casino. but the added complexities of video game license's
I'm looking into it though.

Charlotte
I’ve been to arcades out here in Charlotte. Funny enough the times I’ve went have been with brehs from this site. The arcades were fun too. Nice chill vibe, and for adults as opposed to kids.
