I've never encountered someone trying to push atheism on me. plenty of religious folks giving me pamphlets, asking me if I've found Jesus, etc
Who the heck walks and around telling people that they're atheist...
With that said, my only problem with religion, is the lack of respect towards separation and state....

Part of the problem on here, is you have trolls like Solimon who make posts designed to stir up animosity, and then people fall for it; and utter things they've heard about Islam, or Muslims without fact checking what they're saying, trying to one up Solimon.
To slaimons credit he really doesn't he says simple things and people go crazy.

I understand that it happens, i've seen it happen to others...just not me...I avoid Jehova's Witnesses like the plague though.
But on a personal, conversational level. I have only had one or 2 people bring up religion...mostly older people. But folks my age (mid 20's), the atheists i have known go out of their way to make you feel like your belief is absurd. Which could be said for any belief system even atheism its self. The concept of Hope itself is kinda absurd, but even non-believers have that.
You probably just don't realize it's happening ... confirmation bias all the way. When the examples Hollywood Hulk happen, it's not an event to you, so you don't remember or notice it as often as opposed to an atheist sharing their opinion about religion.

I'm not counting things like Fox news, and politicians and public figures. Those are agendas. I'm talking about day to day conversation. I'm WELL aware that the Christian base is alive and well in the media and in our political discourse (WHICH IT SHOULD NOT BE).
But on the EVERYDAY...no i'm not around people slapping me in the face with Jesus everyday.

but in my personal experience have been accosted by atheists more.
Both sides can be a$$holes, but i don't see how religion can't be discussed intelligently just like anything else. I love smart religious talks....i don't get offended because there are people who don't believe in what i believe in.

I don't talk about religion with others who I know aren't Muslim or religious unless they bring it up first.
People will ask me sometimes why I dont eat pork or why I'm fasting and when I tell them why it may spark a conversation but that's as far as it goes.
I don't like how these christian dudes always feel the need to ask you to go to their church though "are you saved? I don't like shyt like that at all. No offense to Christians, but its always y'all on that bullshyt.

yeah, that's some BS. I never cut into people like that. Jesus is my guy, but i'm not gonna make you feel like crap because Mohammad is yours. For all we know they could be aspects of the same spirit.

It probably does happen to you but because of your theological leanings you don't note it as "slapping you in the face". Where as an atheist bringing up his lack of belief probably offends you because you don't see thing the way he or she does.
What I am saying is you clearly have a bias being that your an theist.
