im running a custom android software on my bo
and meh if after a year mine conks ill buy a new one.
I was paying like 75 a month for cable tv, now i pay 0.
paying 50 a year will be worth it, and hell i may upgrade anyways to a 2 or 3 gig ram android tv

folks are indoctrinated cable is so pricey for the crummy content you get, sometimes with cable i barely turned on my tv. Now im using my box every day for hours.
i think the best part about kodi isnt really the live sports, even though that was why i got it in the first place but the movies... the addons are like having Net Flix, instead u have every movie on there that u can think of in high quality... also shows... they have every show u can think of, all the seasons.

right... paying for cable is some bullshyt... waayyy over priced and the price just keeps going up.... u have to pay extra for high def?
after u watch a fight or a couple of movies the box basically has paid for iteslf.

ive been watching king of queens up to season 4 the past few weeks, just so easy to turn on my box watch what I want and voila, no searching for links , no downloading.
Even the music addons, got soundcloud and tunein if i just feel like listening to music.
U guys dont have to buy the box, u can just use ur laptop... just connect the laptop to ur tv... thats how i started.

I personally download the shows I want in HD, put em on a 128GB flash drive, and watch them on the big screen using my Sony Blu-ray player.
That joint supports NTFS as well so I can hook up my portable external to it as well
does the file type matter? like mp4, avi etc?

Not at all for the one I have. Even handles mkv containers which blew my mind.
It's the Sony BDP S3500. The later models are probably even better
