2nd Unit could have taken them out to Chicago to get some bike riding footage but that seems like one hell of a hassle.

This technically has to be true if you include shyt the 2nd unit shot. Exterior shots have to naturally be shot 'on location'. 2nd unit tends to shoot footage that doesn't include the actors. Some people call it 'stock footage' but I don't like that term personally.
Now King Of Queens has some scenes that are outside. One at a park jumps out at me. Filming locations might be complicated with that show. But like I said, if you shoot shyt a certain way folks won't question it. The show is based in New York but I can film footage of a park in LA but make sure no signs are in the footage. I can tell you its in New York. Or it can be inferred(the show called King Of Queens, right?) and I don't have to say shyt.
But where they stay is a set I can damn near promise you. It's how the cameras can shoot from a distance. Many of those sets are in California.
