the shootout at the start where clarice blasts that HIV positive female Drug kingpin and she bleeds all over the baby had me like 
I don't even dislike Julianne Moore but such a big part of these movies is the interaction between Hannibal and the main characters and she just did not work for me. Same with Norton.

Will Graham is supposed to have a personality disorder and be somewhat unhinged...Hugh Dancy is playing Will graham PERFECTLY on the Hannibal tv show...Norton's Graham was just a regular guy; he didn't seem to be affected by the fact that Hannibal stabbed him; he also didn't seem to have that awkward, antisocial personality problem; plus he was unconvincing in the crime scene part at the beginning; He just doesn't command that performance...

It's definitely worth a watch. Some of the twists can be contrived as all hell but everyone is great in it and it's seriously one of the best-looking shows on television right now.

@KevCo the show is bananas. The first half of season 1 is good, not great (too much "killer of the week" and some odd story choices) but the second half of season 1 and the entirety of season 2 are fukking insane, and the season 2 finale is my #1 episode of 2014.

If Hopkins was given 26 episodes to build the character I'm sure he'd do as good, if not better than, Mikkelson but the character is given waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more depth in the series than the movies. He's basically the Devil in the series....charming, charismatic, brilliant and dangerous.
And his suit game.
More to the point of the thread, season 3 of the "Hannibal" show will feature parts of the Red Dragon story line.

I actually agree. I mean, Hopkins is great in Lambs but then the same thing happened to him that happened to DeNiro and Pacino, they started playing parodies of themselves. I can't take him seriously in Red Dragon at all.
Mikkelsen is a fukking beast and he plays the role perfectly.
